During your internship at Reflect Orbital you will be given as much responsibility as our full-time team-members. You work will contribute to directly to the success of our flying constellation.
Ideal candidates for internships will be comfortable facing challenges with no known solution, willing to be hands-on individual contributors, and able to commit to a minimum of 12 weeks in-person at our Hawthorne, CA office. Responsibilities
Work on a focused piece of our guidance, navigation, and control stack, in simulation, in flight software, or both.
Build complete tools and test setups, with an emphasis on fully completing and shipping your work.
Get hands on with our flatsat, integrating and debugging components on real avionics.
Own an open question, whether that's a sensor trade, an orbit study, or a failure mode nobody has characterized yet, and document your findings so the team can build on them.
Ideal Qualifications
You are able to work full-time onsite
You are enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master’s degree program from an accredited college or university in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, or related engineering field
Understanding of fundamentals in the fields of orbital mechanics, spacecraft attitude dynamics, control systems and state estimation/sequential filtering
Familiarity with ADCS components such as star trackers, IMU's, reaction wheels, CMG's, RCS, etc
Proficiency in mathematical modeling and simulation software, including numerical methods
Proficiency in Python, C/C++ or Rust code development
Application of technical skills outside of the classroom (examples include: extracurricular projects, volunteering, personal projects, laboratory research, or prior internship/work experience)
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a professional team environment
Eagerness to learn and adapt in a dynamic startup environment
