Join our team!
The University Book Store is now hiring a Graphic Design Marketing Intern. This role will create work that will be seen by students, alumni, Badger fans and visitors. You’ll get hands-on experience creating print, digital and social content, while learning how design projects move from an idea to a finished piece in a professional marketing environment. You’ll work alongside our entire team, contribute ideas and gain experience with industry standards, project management and designing for an established brand.
Schedule:
- Part-time Internship | 15–20 hours per week | On-site at State Street
- Flexible schedule coordinated primarily during weekdays. Some evenings and weekends may be required for planned events. Dates discussed in advance as needed. Scheduling availability needed during Badger Bash Saturday events.
- Interns encouraged to work with us for at least two semesters for the opportunity to take on more projects, develop skills and build a stronger body of work,
Essential Functions:
- Design promotional materials including in-store signage, displays, digital graphics, web content and advertising.
- Create graphics and content for social media
- Brainstorm creative ideas for campaigns, promotions and events
- Stay updated on the latest design and social medial trends.
- Keep up with current design, digital and social media trends
- Help represent the University Book Store at select campus and community events
- Collaborate with the marketing team on a variety of creative projects.
- Performs all additional duties as assigned.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Will attend events as a University Book Store representative as needed.
- When needed will act as the store mascot “Booky”.
Requirements
Qualifications:
- Proficient in Adobe Creative Cloud, particularly InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator
- Have a strong understanding of layout, typography and visual design
- Background using InDesign and Photoshop.
- Interested in working across print, digital, social, photo and video
- Photography experience a plus.
- Ability to work under tight deadlines manage multiple projects.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
