📍 London (Hybrid – 2 days in office, 3 days remote/wfh or office if you prefer!)
Two in five people in the UK rent their homes. At Goodlord, our mission is to be the gold standard platform for renting - simplifying complexity across agents, landlords and tenants.
We’re looking for a hands-on Head of Brand Marketing to own how Goodlord shows up in the world - from our brand and content to PR, corporate affairs, thought leadership and the conversations shaping the future of renting.
You’ll be a brilliant brand and communications operator who can set direction while staying close to the work. Someone who enjoys shaping stories, building a distinctive brand, working with the media, developing great content and making sure everything we put into the world feels unmistakably Goodlord.
Reporting directly to our Marketing Director, you’ll lead a talented team of four across content, SEO and design, manage our external PR agency, and work closely with colleagues across Demand Generation, Product Marketing, Sales and the wider business.
You’ll help make Goodlord a distinctive and trusted voice in the rental industry, turning complex topics - from regulation and policy to AI and technology - into stories people actually want to read, hear and talk about. And you’ll make sure our brand doesn’t just look and sound great, but supports our wider commercial goals too.
If you like autonomy, pace and variety - and you’re comfortable being the person who both shapes what great looks like and helps make it happen - this could be a great fit!
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
The pace we move at means no two days are the same, but core responsibilities include:
Brand & storytelling
Own and evolve Goodlord’s brand strategy, positioning, identity and voice
Make sure our brand shows up consistently and distinctively across everything we do
Turn complex topics into clear, engaging stories that resonate with our customers and the wider market
Set the bar for great storytelling, creative quality and commercial impact
PR, media & corporate affairs
Own our PR and media activity across property, technology and business press
Build strong relationships with journalists and identify opportunities for Goodlord to lead and shape relevant conversations
Brief and manage our external PR agency, ensuring clear priorities and strong output
Lead our approach to corporate affairs, including regulatory and policy-related communications
Bring calm, credible judgement to reactive issues and sensitive moments, protecting Goodlord’s reputation while staying true to our voice and values
Content, SEO & thought leadership
Set the direction for our content across blogs, opinion pieces, insight-led content, case studies, social and video
Lead and develop our content and SEO team, making sure we’re creating useful, engaging work that supports wider marketing and business priorities
Shape our thought-leadership agenda around the topics that matter most to Goodlord and our customers - from regulation and compliance to AI, technology and the future of renting
Partner with senior leaders on commentary, bylines and external positioning, including ghostwriting and editing where needed
Help build the external profiles of our leadership team through media opportunities, speaking engagements, opinion pieces and awards
Creative & design
Lead our in-house design team, responsible for customer-facing collateral, tools, campaigns and video
Make sure everything we put into the world feels on-brand, well-crafted and commercially sharp
Work with the team to turn ideas into brilliant creative execution
Team & commercial impact
Lead, support and develop a team of four across content, SEO and design
Work closely with Demand Generation, Product Marketing and Sales to make sure brand, PR and content support wider commercial goals
Use data and insight to understand what’s working and where we can have greater impact
Build strong relationships across Goodlord, bringing together different teams, ideas and priorities to tell better stories
ABOUT YOU
You’ll be well suited to this role if you:
Have strong commercial experience across brand, PR/communications and content - in Agency and/or B2B tech, SaaS, fintech, proptech.
Have owned a brand, shaping its positioning, messaging, identity and how it shows up in market
Have experience directly leading and developing individual contributors across content, creative, design or communications
Are a strong storyteller with sound strategic judgement, able to zoom out to brand strategy and zoom in to a single headline
Have a track record of building media relationships and delivering coverage across both trade and mainstream press
Can translate complex regulation, technology or industry change into engaging, relatable stories
Have experience of corporate affairs and reputation or issues management, with the judgement to handle sensitive moments calmly and credibly
Are fluent in thought leadership and executive communications - from ghostwriting and bylines to presentations and media commentary
Have led and developed people across content, creative, design or communications
Understand SEO as a growth channel and know enough to set direction, ask the right questions and challenge specialists
Are commercially minded and naturally think about how brand, PR and content can support wider business goals
Are collaborative, comfortable working with different stakeholders and happy operating at pace
Enjoy having ownership while still being close to the work - you’re happy setting the direction, but equally comfortable rolling your sleeves up when needed
WHY YOU’LL LOVE IT HERE
You’ll have real ownership of how Goodlord shows up in the market
You’ll get to work across brand, PR, content and creative rather than being boxed into one discipline
You’ll lead a talented team across content, SEO and design
You’ll work on genuinely interesting topics at a time of huge change in the rental industry
You’ll have plenty of autonomy to turn good ideas into action
You’ll be joining a purpose-driven team reshaping one of the UK’s most important industries
You’ll be part of a culture that believes in Letting Without Limits - for our customers, our partners and our people
This role is about owning delivery, not building a large function. If you’re looking for a purely strategic communications role with a sizeable team underneath you, this probably isn’t the right fit. If you enjoy being close to the work and making things happen, we’d love to hear from you!
Why you'll love being a Goodlordian
Aside from the role, the people, our culture and our mission, we have some other things that make Goodlord a pretty awesome place to be. Here’s a few favourites amongst Goodlordians (check out our careers page for more info).
Grow with Goodlord: your development is important to us, that’s why we are Great Place to Work - certified . Have a goal in mind? Share it with us so we can use some of our annual development fund to support it. We guarantee you’ll learn loads and develop both personally and professionally!
Your well-being matters: bi-weekly coaching with Sanctus to provide Goodlordians with a safe place to talk and support your mental health
25 days holiday (plus UK Bank holidays) plus 1 day per full holiday year up to 32 days: We believe regular breaks are essential for well-being and we encourage (some may say expect!) all Goodlordians to take full advantage of their annual leave entitlement.
Supporting your family: we offer Goodlordians of all genders a generous 3 months of fully-paid time off to look after their new arrivals
Our team: we’re an energetic, sociable, and talented bunch who are super passionate about what we do and determined to make a difference. We’re all in it together, we learn from each other, we’re genuine and we don’t have time for politics
