The Challenge
We are seeking a strategic, commercially minded Director, HR Country Partner to lead the People agenda for the India market, and provide ancillary partner support to the Singapore and Melbourne, Australia offices as needed. This role serves as the senior in-country HR leader for India, combining executive partnership with strong operational and compliance oversight. The Director will partner closely with India business leaders and global People stakeholders to shape workforce strategy, strengthen organizational effectiveness, manage complex employee and labor matters, and ensure that global People frameworks are executed in a way that is compliant, scalable, and locally effective for India. They will also supervise HR service deployment to Singapore and Melbourne.

To translate business strategy into an India people strategy that enables growth, leadership effectiveness, organizational health, compliance, and employee experience. This leader will ensure that OneTrust’s global HR philosophy is applied thoughtfully while advising leaders on local market realities, regulatory risk, workforce planning, and high-impact people decisions.
You Are
A seasoned HR leader with strong business acumen, sound judgment, and credibility with senior stakeholders. You bring deep expertise in India employment and labor practices, a track record of leading through complexity and change, and the ability to balance strategic influence with hands-on execution. You are data-driven, pragmatic, and capable of elevating the people agenda in a fast-moving, high-growth environment.
Main Tasks & Responsibilities
· Serve as the senior HR leader for the India, Singapore and Melbourne markets, acting as a core advisor to local leaders on organizational strategy, people risk management, workforce effectiveness and leadership decision-making in partnership with the functional HRBP for each department.
· Partner with business leaders on local org design, succession planning, talent strategy, retention priorities and organizational change to drive the broader organizational strategy particularly for the R&D and GTM organizations.
· Translate global People strategies into local market plans, ensuring local execution is legally compliant, culturally relevant, and operationally scalable.
· Lead complex employee relations, disciplinary, investigation, grievance, and exit matters, providing strategic direction on precedent-setting or high-risk cases in partnership with Legal and relevant stakeholders.
· Oversee location-specific labor and statutory compliance across the employee lifecycle, including country-required documentation, notices, pay and separation requirements, and policy localization.
· Own governance of employment practices and monitor changes in the regulatory landscape, recommending policy, process, and controls updates to mitigate risk and maintain audit readiness.
· Provide strategic HR leadership for execution of organizational changes in India, including restructures, reductions in force, role redesign, manager transitions, and sensitive workforce decisions.
· Guide leadership on manager capability, performance effectiveness, team health, and culture, ensuring leaders are equipped to make fair, consistent, and business-aligned people decisions.
· Partner with People Partners, Total Rewards, Finance, Payroll, HRIS, and Legal on location-specific compensation structures, employment terms, statutory benefits, allowances, and contract language to ensure compliant and sustainable practices.
· Use HR metrics and workforce analytics to identify trends, inform decision-making, and present actionable insights on attrition, engagement, manager effectiveness, compliance risk, and organizational health.
· Lead continuous improvement of India HR processes, SOPs, and Workday-enabled workflows to improve employee experience, manager usability, compliance quality, and operational efficiency.
· Provide leadership and direction to local People Team resources and influence cross-functional delivery partners to ensure coordinated execution across People Business Partnership, Talent Acquisition, People Operations and Payroll.
· Act as a trusted escalation point for issues that require nuanced judgment across business priorities, people experience, and regulatory obligations.
Minimum Education and Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required; advanced degree in HR, business, or related field strongly preferred.
· Deep knowledge of India employment law, labor practices, statutory compliance, and employee relations frameworks – high learning agility to become proficient in markets where you have less experience.
· Strong experience with HRIS platforms and reporting tools; Workday strongly preferred.
· Strong analytical capability and comfort using data to influence executive decisions and improve HR effectiveness.
· Professional HR certification is a plus.
Background & Experience
· 12+ years of progressive HR experience, including meaningful experience in senior HR leadership, HR business partnership, and country HR management.
· Demonstrated success partnering with senior leaders on workforce planning, organizational design, talent strategy, and business transformation.
· Proven experience leading complex employee relations, investigations, restructures, sensitive exits, and legally informed decision-making.
· Strong track record of operating in India’s regulatory environment and applying local requirements within a global or multi-national company context.
· Experience leading or influencing cross-functional teams and driving execution through ambiguity, scale, and change.
· Strong executive presence, stakeholder management, and the ability to balance strategic leadership with operational rigor.
