HR & Development Specialist
- Weaver Popcorn Manufacturing | Van Buren, Indiana
- Onsite position | Flexibility to support multiple shifts
Weaver Popcorn Manufacturing is looking for an HR & Development Specialist who enjoys working with people and being part of the day-to-day life of a manufacturing plant. In this role, you’ll help us hire and welcome new team members, support their development, and work with plant leaders to improve the experiences that help people stay and grow at Weaver.
What you’ll do
- Manage recruiting for assigned plant roles, including sourcing, interviews, candidate communication, offers, and hiring requirements.
- Coordinate onboarding from accepted offer through orientation and the handoff to department training.
- Lead new hire check-ins and work with leaders to address barriers during a team member’s first 90 days.
- Lead retention projects, gather team member feedback, review workforce trends, and follow through on improvement plans with plant leaders.
- Partner with Operations and Continuous Skills Development on learning paths, training schedules, qualification requirements, and progress toward proficiency.
- Coordinate leave and attendance processes, unemployment claims, HR records, and other assigned People Department work.
- Provide approachable, confidential HR support to team members and leaders across the plant.
What you’ll bring
- A bachelor’s degree in HR, business, organizational development, or a related field, or equivalent education and experience.
- At least three years of experience in recruiting, HR, workforce development, learning and development, or a related field.
- Experience coordinating projects or programs with people from different departments.
- Working knowledge of leave administration, attendance, unemployment, and HR recordkeeping.
- Strong communication, organization, follow-through, and sound judgment.
Experience supporting an hourly workforce in manufacturing, distribution, or food production is a plus.
This is an onsite role that works in both office and production areas. You’ll need to be comfortable spending time on the plant floor and occasionally adjusting your schedule to support team members on different shifts.

Requirements
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in human resources, business, organizational development or a related field, or equivalent education and experience.
- Three or more years of experience in talent acquisition, human resources, workforce development, learning and development, or a related field.
- Experience leading cross-functional workstreams or Team Member programs through planning, implementation, follow-up, and measurement.
- Working knowledge of FMLA and leave administration, attendance, unemployment insurance, policy administration, and HR recordkeeping.
- Strong communication, facilitation, relationship-building, analytical, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency with standard business technology and ability to learn applicant tracking, HRIS, learning, and reporting systems.
- Ability to handle confidential information and work primarily onsite in a manufacturing environment, with periodic flexibility to support multiple shifts.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting a manufacturing, distribution, food production, or other hourly workforce.
- Experience with high-volume recruiting, structured onboarding, early-tenure retention, adult learning, or proficiency programs.
- Experience partnering with Operations, Continuous Improvement, technical training, Safety, or Quality teams.
- Experience coordinating leaves, attendance, unemployment claims, HRIS transactions, or HR compliance activities.
- Experience creating dashboards, process maps, standard work, learning paths, or program evaluation tools.
