Position Summary

The HSE & Quality System Coordinator is responsible for the deployment, maintenance, compliance, and continuous improvement of Cuernavaca’s Health, Safety, Environment, Energy, and Integrated Management Systems , including legal compliance and certification readiness.

This role ensures the effectiveness of the site management systems under ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 50001, Clean Industry , and the applicable automotive quality standards such as IATF 16949 , while promoting continuous improvement, risk prevention, and operational discipline. The position provides technical coordination and leadership across cross-functional teams to ensure system integrity, audit readiness, legal conformity, emergency preparedness, and achievement of HSE and Quality System objectives.

The role also acts as a key liaison with internal stakeholders, external auditors, regulatory entities, and management teams, ensuring timely reporting, action plan follow-up, and sustainable compliance with corporate, legal, and customer requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Legal Compliance Management

Ensure compliance with applicable HSE, environmental, occupational health, energy, and quality-related legal requirements, including identification of obligations, inspection readiness, follow-up of findings, and closure of action plans.

Legal compliance rate; number of overdue legal actions; inspection findings closure rate; zero major legal non-compliances.

Integrated Audit Management

Plan, coordinate, and follow up internal and external audits for the Integrated Management System, ensuring compliance with applicable standards and timely closure of findings.

100% audit program execution; audit finding closure rate; on-time action plan completion; zero major audit non-conformities.

HSE Site Strategy and Operations

Coordinate HSE programs, operational controls, prevention activities, and improvement initiatives to ensure effective implementation of ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 requirements across the site.

LTI-FR vs target; occupational disease rate; HSE objectives achievement; safety action closure rate; environmental incident rate.

Management System Certification and Deployment

Ensure the integrity, implementation, maintenance, and certification readiness of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 50001, Clean Industry, and IATF 16949 management systems.

Certification status maintained; zero major non-conformities; successful surveillance/recertification audits; management system compliance rate.

Management Review and Performance Reporting

Consolidate and communicate management system, HSE, and compliance performance to site leadership and relevant stakeholders, ensuring visibility of risks, results, and improvement priorities.

On-time reporting completion; management review effectiveness; KPI visibility; escalation timeliness.

Emergency Preparedness and Brigade Coordination

Coordinate emergency response protocols, site brigade structure, drills, and related preparedness activities to ensure readiness and compliance with site requirements.

Emergency drill compliance; brigade readiness; emergency action closure rate; response protocol effectiveness.

Internal Auditor Team Coordination

Coordinate the internal auditor team, including planning, capability development, assignment of audits, and follow-up of results to strengthen audit effectiveness and system maturity.

Internal auditor qualification compliance; audit assignment completion; audit effectiveness; auditor development progress.

Continuous Improvement of Management Systems

Drive improvement projects and best practices focused on strengthening the effectiveness, maturity, and performance of HSE and Quality Systems.

Improvement projects completed; maturity progression; reduction in recurring findings; system performance improvement.

Customer and Quality System Focus

Ensure that the Integrated Management System maintains customer focus and compliance with applicable customer-specific requirements related to quality systems and automotive expectations.

CSR compliance; customer-related audit results; quality system conformity; zero customer escalations linked to system compliance.

Cross-Functional Compliance and Engagement

Work with Operations, Quality, Engineering, Maintenance, HR, and support functions to ensure effective deployment of management system requirements and site-wide compliance culture.

Cross-functional action closure rate; stakeholder engagement effectiveness; training deployment compliance; system adherence across areas.

Competencies: Skills, Experience and Education

Formal Education

Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Safety Engineering, Quality Engineering, or related field.

Postgraduate studies or specialization in HSE, Quality Systems, Energy Management, or Integrated Management Systems.

Languages

Fluent English.

Additional international audit or regulatory communication exposure.

IT / Software

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Oracle, Intelex, and applicable systems for compliance, reporting, and management system follow-up.

Power BI, data analytics, or advanced compliance reporting tools.

Experience

At least 8 years of experience in similar positions related to HSE, Quality Systems, Integrated Management Systems, or compliance coordination.

Experience in automotive or highly regulated industrial environments.

Technical Knowledge

Strong knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 50001, IATF 16949, legal HSE requirements, auditing, customer-specific requirements, and integrated management system deployment.

Core Tools, Clean Industry certification, sustainability initiatives, and advanced continuous improvement methodologies.
