At AES we are looking for an Instrument & Control Technician

Mission

The I&C Technician role is to perform trouble shooting, maintenance and repairs on all plant instrumentation equipment’s, Distributed Control System (DCS), Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), Continuous Emission Monitoring Systems (CEMs) and any other craft related equipment.

Responsibilities

• •Work safely, following company policies, procedures and work practices in a positive, cooperative and productive manner.
• •Working knowledge of power plant operations and maintenance, electrical principles, work practices, procedures and materials.
• •Perform work in connection with testing, calibrating, maintenance, repair and replacement of power plant process instrumentation and control systems.
• •Knowledge of Distributed Controls Systems (DCS) ABB INFI 90 and all associated field devices.
• •Knowledge of industry related CEMS hardware, software and reporting.
• •Ability to interpret control drawings, P&ID’s, loop sheets, schematics and other craft related drawings. Update equipment documentation and drawings as needed.
• •Ability to work on air systems, pneumatics, electrical and hydraulic actuators, solenoids, switches and pneumatic control system equipment.
• •Coordinating activities with Operations, maintenance, Engineering, contract personnel and outside vendors for maximum plant safety and efficiency.
• •Monitor work request and record work results in the SAP system.
• •Perform both routine and non-routine preventative and corrective maintenance on plant equipment.
• •Perform and document preventative maintenance on instrumentation equipment according to manufacture and/or plant requirements.

Requirements

• •Associate Degree in Instrumentation or Engineering is preferred.
• •3 or more years in industrial plant experience or a combination of power plant training and experience.

Skills and knowledge

• •Effective organizational skills with commitment to deadlines.
• •Excellent communication skills both in English and Spanish.
• •Computer skills (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• •Must be results oriented, self-motivated, and able to work with limited direct supervision. Able to analyze cause and effect situations.
• •Able to support 24 x 7 operations.
• •Read and understand P&ID’s, Loop Sheets, Schematics and other craft related drawings.
• •Experience in SAP preferred.
• •In-depth knowledge of power plant operations and safety standards.
• •Experience in a leadership capacity with strong emphasis on team development, hands-on training, response preparedness and participation.
