Position Highlights

Spencer Hospital is a rural hospital located in northwest Iowa employing over 500+ employees. Positions at Spencer Hospital are not affiliated with Avera; however, we collaborate to provide services to the communities we serve. Employment offers, if accepted, are exclusively with Spencer Hospital. ​

Responsibilities:

• •Calling payors for payment
• •Performs routine duties in conjunction with processing all third party insurance, Medicare, Medicaid and other government assisted programs.
• •Clerks will have a good working knowledge of all payer regulations for submitting claims.
• •Billing clerk will send claims either electronically or hard copy depending on the type of claim being processed.
• •Handles day to day requests for insurance resubmits.
• •Answers phone calls and correspondence relating to the claim.
• •Audits the admission/registration information to ensure accuracy prior to billing and check for missing or incorrect information or authorizations

Requirements:

• •Previous hospital and/or clinic billing experience preferred
• •Knowledge of medical and insurance terminology
• •Experience with EPIC is a plus
• •Must have excellent communication skills, caring attitude and be a team player
• •Strong organizational skills are required
• •HS diploma or equivalent required

Schedule:

• •80 hrs per pay period
• •M-F; 8a-4:30pm
• •The schedule may fluctuate based upon needs of the department
