Investment Analyst, Public Credit Research

Overview of Position:

HIMCO is seeking an Investment Analyst to join the Public Credit Research team.

The Investment Analyst will work closely with senior analysts in Public Credit Research to analyze and underwrite new investment ideas and monitor existing holdings using our fundamental and relative value investment framework

Key Responsibilities:

• •Assist in and provide individual contributions to the fundamental credit research process for new investment ideas and monitoring existing holdings
• •Independently utilize financial information to build detailed financial models for companies as well as comparable company analysis with some help/oversight/assistance from the senior analyst.
• •Proactively monitor company and industry news that may affect the fundamental outlook and/or relative value of our holdings
• •Assist with and provide independent analysis for credit presentations to PMs and other internal/external clients
• •Work independently to analyze credits and formulate investment recommendations and present views to Head of Public Credit Research and PMs
• •Assist and provide substantial input into preparing credit recommendation updates that utilize our internal systems, including CATAGO, Bloomberg chats and virtual/in-person morning meetings. Begin to deliver content in these forums.
• •Assist with and provide substantial input for ad-hoc projects, begin to support broader Public Credit Research projects
• •Actively participate in and provide content for Public Credit Research and HIMCO training.

Qualifications:

• •2+ years of relevant experience in credit research/fixed income, investment banking, equity research, accounting, corporate finance, or related investment role.
• •Strong academic background, preference for bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, economics or quantitative (STEM) field
• •Strong accounting and financial statement analysis skills
• •Strong Microsoft Office (i.e., Excel, Powerpoint) and AI/data analytics skills. Knowledge of Bloomberg, Capital IQ or other financial statement data vendor a plus.
• •Strong written and verbal communication skills; strong attention to detail.
• •Ability to work independently while contributing towards a culture of collaboration
• •Independent thinker; intellectually curious, with a passion for investing.
• •Progress toward CFA designation or willingness to pursue CFA is a plus but not required.
• •Depending on experience, position title will be either Senior Investment Analyst, Investment Analyst, or Assistant Investment Analyst

Compensation

The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:

$97,200 - $118,800
