JOB PURPOSE

Under the direction and supervision of the Director, Information Services, the IT Infrastructure & Security Specialist is responsible for the implementation, administration, maintenance, security, and continuous improvement of SNP’s IT infrastructure and related technologies. The position supports the reliability, availability, security, and performance of multi-site infrastructure, including network, server, endpoint, backup, security, and related technology environments. Responsibilities include infrastructure optimization, network security, vulnerability management, technical documentation, infrastructure lifecycle planning, disaster recovery, and business continuity.

The position provides advanced technical expertise in the identification, investigation, troubleshooting, and resolution of complex infrastructure and security issues, and participates in the design, implementation, testing, and ongoing improvement of infrastructure and cybersecurity solutions. It provides technical recommendations to the Director, Information Services regarding infrastructure and security risks, requirements, priorities, and technology investments, and works collaboratively with Information Services team, organizational stakeholders, vendors, and service providers to ensure infrastructure and security technologies are implemented and maintained in accordance with organizational requirements, established standards, policies, procedures, and security practices.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

IT Infrastructure Operations & Administration 30%

Administers, maintains, monitors, and supports SNP’s multi-site IT infrastructure, including LAN/WAN, VPN, wired and wireless networks, switches, firewalls, servers, storage, virtualization, and related infrastructure technologies;

Supports the ongoing availability, performance, reliability, and security of infrastructure services and works toward established service availability objectives;

Performs advanced troubleshooting and root-cause analysis of hardware, software, network, server, storage, connectivity, and infrastructure-related issues;

Plans and performs infrastructure maintenance, upgrades, patching, configuration changes, and lifecycle activities;

Supports the full lifecycle of infrastructure hardware and technology, including assessment, procurement, configuration, deployment, maintenance, refresh, replacement, and decommissioning;

Maintains accurate configuration information, technical records, system inventories, service documentation, and network topology diagrams;

Monitors infrastructure environments and investigates performance, capacity, availability, and operational issues;

Supports the administration and maintenance of endpoint and device management technologies;

Maintains and applies infrastructure standards, configuration standards, technical guidelines, and operational procedures;

Identifies opportunities to improve infrastructure reliability, performance, scalability, security, and operational efficiency; and

Prioritizes and coordinates technical work based on operational requirements, risk, impact, and organizational priorities.

Information Security & Cybersecurity 25%

Implements, maintains, and supports technical security controls designed to protect organizational systems, networks, devices, applications, and data;

Monitors and investigates security events, alerts, vulnerabilities, and other indicators of potential security incidents;

Participates in the identification, assessment, prioritization, and remediation of infrastructure and cybersecurity risks;

Leads or performs technical activities associated with cybersecurity incident response, investigation, containment, remediation, and recovery, with accountability to the Director, Information Services;

Administers and supports security technologies, configurations, policies, and controls across infrastructure and endpoint environments;

Performs or coordinates vulnerability identification, remediation, patch management, and security hardening activities;

Reviews infrastructure configurations and technology implementations to identify security weaknesses and recommends appropriate mitigation measures;

Supports the development, implementation, and maintenance of technical security standards, procedures, and controls;

Works with third-party security providers, vendors, and service providers on security-related investigations, remediation, and technical issues;

Provides technical input into organizational risk assessments and cybersecurity planning;

Maintains awareness of emerging infrastructure and cybersecurity threats and evaluates their potential impact on the organization;

Provides technical recommendations to the Director, Information Services regarding cybersecurity risks, priorities, controls, and investments; and

Supports the ongoing improvement of SNP’s overall cybersecurity posture.

Infrastructure Architecture, Projects & Technology Implementation 20%

Participates in and provides technical leadership for the design, implementation, configuration, and ongoing improvement of infrastructure solutions;

Evaluates existing and emerging technologies and provides technical recommendations based on organizational requirements, security, scalability, reliability, supportability, and cost;

Leads or participates in infrastructure and security technology projects from technical planning through implementation and operational transition;

Develops technical requirements, implementation plans, configuration standards, testing plans, and technical documentation for infrastructure initiatives;

Designs and implements infrastructure changes that support institutional and Information Services priorities;

Evaluates infrastructure capacity, lifecycle requirements, and technology dependencies and provides recommendations regarding upgrades, replacement, and future requirements;

Supports the implementation and maintenance of network security architecture, including firewalls, segmentation, secure connectivity, and related controls;

Supports the planning, implementation, and maintenance of server, storage, virtualization, cloud, endpoint, and other infrastructure technologies as applicable;

Coordinates technical activities with internal Information Services team and external vendors or service providers;

Performs technical testing and validation of new or modified infrastructure and security solutions prior to production implementation;

Ensures technical changes are appropriately documented and implemented in accordance with established change-management processes; and

Identifies opportunities to automate technical processes and improve the efficiency, consistency, and reliability of infrastructure operations.
