FLSA Status: Non-Exempt (Hourly)

Schedule: Thursday or occasionally Fridays. 6 hours per week

Summary:

The Janitor will clean, sanitize and maintain areas by providing cleaning services for the parish church.

Position Responsibilities:

• •Clean and sanitize rooms, bathrooms, and common areas.
• •Dust and polish furniture and fixtures.
• •Clean windows, mirrors, and other glass surfaces.
• •As requested, organize items and tidy up spaces.
• •Vacuum, sweep, and mop floors.
• •Removes trash.
• •Replenish restroom supplies.
• •Ensure high standards of cleanliness and presentation.
• •Report any maintenance issues or safety hazards.
• •Maintain cleaning equipment and supplies.
• •Maintain the security of issued keys, secure buildings, turn off lights and set thermostats.
• •Adhering to safety training and protocols on a daily basis and taking precautionary measures to ensure the safety and well-being of self and others.
• •Any other duties assigned by priest or parochial vicar.

Preferred Qualifications:

• •Sufficient education and literacy needed to identify and read product labels.
• •Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in cleaning including dusting, mopping, sweeping, and vacuuming.

Minimum Knowledge, Abilities and Skills:

• •Ability to communicate with various levels of staff
• •Complete a safe environment course and pass criminal background check
• •Ensure compliance with health and safety standards
• •Ability to resolve and reduce conflict.

Requirements

Qualifications:

• •Should possess good interpersonal and communication skills.
• •Prior custodian / janitorial experience preferred.
• •Ability to perform with minimal daily supervision.
• •Knowledge and/ or experience working with cleaning equipment and chemicals

Physical Demands:

Spend 80-90% of work time standing/ squatting/ lifting/ kneeling doing a wide variety of moderate physical activity.

Work Environment:

• •Relate well, communicate professionally and courteously with staff, volunteers, parishioners, children.
• •Maintain a neat appearance.
