About this role

The Partner Financial Services team, a critical component of our global Fintech pillar, is seeking a skilled Java Developer. You will contribute to core services that power partner payments and financial operations across the entire global Just Eat Takeaway network. This role is ideal for a developer who combines solid core engineering skills with modern AI tools to maximize velocity and software reliability.

• Location: Remote Canada
• Reporting to: Technology Manager

These are some of the key ingredients to the role:

• •Write, test, and maintain code for core financial microservices using modern Java (including Java 21).
• •Contribute to the development of reliable solutions utilizing microservices, REST APIs, and message-driven patterns.
• •Utilize tools like Kiro and Claude Code across the software development lifecycle, including scoping technical work, generating code, debugging production issues, and writing unit/integration test suites.
• •Participate in code reviews and follow team best practices to ensure high standards of code quality.
• •Work with other teams, follow shared standards, and contribute to reusable components as part of our inner-source approach.
• •Maintain and support existing infrastructure resources on AWS and Terraform.
• •Work closely with the product team to understand technical requirements and deliver on business goals.
• •Proactively seek and share knowledge and insights with the team.

What will you bring to the table?

• •Professional experience with Java and microservices architecture.
• •Strong fundamentals in data structures, design patterns, testing, and debugging.
• •Hands-on experience integrating AI development tools into engineering workflows, paired with the critical eye needed to evaluate, refactor, and validate AI outputs.
• •Understanding of System Design and Reliability Engineering principles.
• •Experience with relational databases (MySQL/Postgres) and message brokers.
• •Experience with Docker containers, CI/CD practices (Jenkins, GitHub Actions), Git, and core AWS services (ECS, EKS, Lambda, DynamoDB, RDS).
• •Understanding of System Design, Reliability Engineering principles, and observability tools like DataDog or AWS CloudWatch. Passion for teamwork, engaging in code reviews, and continuous learning.

Optional toppings:

• •Experience with C# .NET development.
• •Experience with Typescript/React development.
• •Familiarity with the Fintech domain.

Compensation range: $79,440.00 – $104,500.00 Final compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and internal equity.
