About the Role

We are seeking a Kitchen Hand on a Casual basis , Location - The Collaroy Centre, tasked with providing a truly exceptional, customer focused service to drive excellence and performance.

Purpose of the Role

The Casual Kitchen Hand plays a vital role in supporting the day-to-day catering operations at The Collaroy Centre by maintaining a clean, safe, and hygienic kitchen environment. Working as part of the hospitality team, this role ensures kitchen equipment, food preparation areas, and dining facilities are maintained to a high standard, contributing to the delivery of quality meals and a positive experience for guests, campers, conference attendees, and visitors. Through reliable support and a collaborative approach, the Kitchen Hand helps uphold The Salvation Army's commitment to service, hospitality, and excellence.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

Kitchen & Equipment Cleaning

· Maintain high standards of cleanliness by washing dishes, utensils, cookware, and catering equipment.

· Ensure all kitchen and dining service items are cleaned, sanitised, and stored appropriately.

Food Preparation Support

·Assist with basic food preparation tasks such as washing, peeling, and chopping vegetables as required.

·Support the kitchen team in the efficient delivery of catering services.

Kitchen Hygiene & Safety

·Follow food safety, hygiene, and workplace health and safety procedures at all times.

·Clean and sanitise food preparation areas, benches, and kitchen equipment to maintain a safe and compliant environment.

General Kitchen Maintenance

·Perform routine cleaning duties including sweeping, mopping floors, emptying bins, and maintaining back-of-house areas.

·Ensure kitchen facilities are presented in a clean, organised, and operational condition.

Team Collaboration

·Work cooperatively with kitchen and catering staff to support daily operations.

·Attend staff meetings and contribute positively to a collaborative and customer-focused team environment.

Education Qualifications:

·Ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment and manage competing priorities.

·Strong understanding of hygiene, cleanliness, and safe food handling practices.

·Reliable, punctual, and able to work a flexible roster across weekdays, weekends, and evenings.

·Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

·Physical capacity to undertake manual handling tasks, including standing for extended periods and lifting kitchen equipment as required.

·Strong communication skills and a positive, customer-focused attitude.

·Commitment to The Salvation Army's mission and values.
