ABOUT QUINCE
Quince is a destination for builders, creators, innovators, and operators who want to come together and challenge the status quo. Our mission is simple: make really high quality essentials for really low prices, fairly and sustainably. We deliver on that mission through a unique manufacturer-to-consumer (M2C) model eliminating the layers of traditional retail that add cost and result in consumers paying more than they need to. We find, build relationships with, and work directly with the manufacturing partners behind some of the world’s finest products. From there, our teams design smart, efficient operational processes and build and deploy proprietary technology, AI, and analytics to help us scale fast.
What began with a small assortment of elevated basics has quickly grown into a cross-category brand spanning apparel, accessories, home goods, and more. Today, tens of millions of people across a growing number of countries come – and return – to Quince because they trust us to deliver.
OUR CULTURE
Quince is a culture built for builders by builders. Our way of working starts with a blank sheet of paper. We question conventional thinking, use technology and data to uncover new opportunities, and move quickly to turn ideas into reality. We aren’t interested in replicating how others do retail. We’re building a better way – at a speed and scale unlike anything that’s been done before.
We dream big and chase the hard problems others shy away from. Rejecting long-held assumptions is part of our company's DNA. Where conventional wisdom says you have to choose – soft or durable, speed or rigor, quality or price – we ask why that trade-off has to exist in the first place.
Our pace is fast and the bar is high because our customers expect a lot from us and we refuse to let them down. We believe the best results come from challenging ourselves, learning from one another, and building on each other's strengths.
Here, responsibility is not determined by role, tenure, or seniority. Every team member - no matter their level - has the opportunity to drive our business and shape our trajectory.
If you’re someone who likes to imagine new possibilities and build better systems rather than plug-in to outdated ones, Quince is the place for you.
THE ROLE
As Quince’s China and Hong Kong operations grow, we need a China-based Lead Accountant to own both entities’ day-to-day finance and accounting function end-to-end: AP payments, employee reimbursements, the general ledger, prepaid expense schedules, fixed asset accounting, and the local books that tie back into Quince’s global consolidation.
This is a hands-on, on-the-ground role — you’ll be the primary finance and accounting resource physically based in China, covering the Hong Kong entity as well, and working closely with local tax and audit consultants, banks, and regulators in both jurisdictions. You’ll report directly into Quince’s Finance controller based in Bangalore, India, and will work day-to-day with counterparts on both the India and US accounting teams.
WHAT YOU’LL OWN
Accounts payable — process and pay supplier and vendor invoices for both the China and Hong Kong entities (including fapiao-compliant documentation for China), maintain a clean AP aging schedule, and ensure payments go out on agreed terms.
Employee reimbursements — review, approve and process employee expense reimbursements for both entities, in line with company policy and local regulations.
Books and records — maintain the general ledger for both the China and Hong Kong entities, post journal entries, and ensure the local books reconcile to the group ERP (NetSuite) each month.
Prepaid expenses — track and amortize prepaid items (insurance, licenses, rent and other prepaid costs) for both entities.
Fixed assets — maintain the fixed asset register, depreciation schedules, and additions/disposals for both entities.
Intercompany support — process and reconcile intercompany invoices and payments between the China and Hong Kong entities, Quince US, and other group entities.
Local statutory bookkeeping and compliance — maintain books under PRC GAAP (Chinese Accounting Standards) for China and HKFRS for Hong Kong, alongside the US GAAP-based group reporting; support VAT, fapiao, and corporate income tax filings in China, and Profits Tax, MPF and Companies Registry filings in Hong Kong, in coordination with local tax consultants.
Audit support — prepare PBC items and respond to auditor queries for the local statutory audits (China and Hong Kong) and the group audit (Deloitte US and local firms), maintaining audit-ready documentation year-round.
Global close partnership — deliver an accurate, on-time trial balance and supporting schedules each month to Quince’s India and US accounting teams for consolidation.
Local liaison — serve as the day-to-day point of contact with local banks and regulators — the tax bureau in China and the Inland Revenue Department / Companies Registry in Hong Kong — for banking, payments and compliance matters.
Cash flow visibility — flag funding needs across both entities to the global finance team with enough lead time to arrange intercompany funding.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
5+ years of accounting experience, including hands-on ownership of AP, general ledger and bookkeeping for a China-based legal entity; Hong Kong entity exposure a strong plus.
An intermediate-level accounting qualification such as the Zhongji (中级) Accounting Title or ACCA is preferred; CPA China (CICPA) or HKICPA membership is a plus but not required for this hands-on role.
Working knowledge of PRC GAAP (Chinese Accounting Standards) and local statutory/tax compliance — VAT, fapiao management, and corporate income tax. Working knowledge of Hong Kong statutory/tax requirements (HKFRS, Profits Tax, MPF, Companies Registry filings) is a plus.
Experience with NetSuite or a similar ERP preferred.
Comfort working cross-border with a global finance function, including intercompany accounting and day-to-day coordination with counterparts in India and the US across time zones.
Fluent Mandarin and business-level English; Cantonese is a plus for Hong Kong coverage.
High attention to detail and comfort operating independently as the sole on-the-ground finance resource across both entities.
Experience in a trading, sourcing or procurement business is a strong plus.
Comfort working in a growing entity, where process and documentation maturity will be built as the business scales — not inherited off-the-shelf.
