the posting

Based in the heart of Leamington Spa, Pixel Toys have spent over a decade pushing the capabilities of mobile and VR gaming. We have developed multiple award-winning titles, including: Warhammer 40,000: Freeblade, Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Realm War; and we’re now excited to be exclusively working on a new game, unlike ANYTHING we’ve done previously!

As a forward thinking and innovative studio we are always looking for new technologies and techniques to develop and use in our games and make them even more engaging experiences for our customers.

We are excited to continue to grow our team and are always on the lookout for highly talented and motivated individuals, who are passionate about gaming and excited to join us on our ambitious journey!

The Role:

Pixel Toys is looking for an inspiring Lead Web Programmer with the skills and personality to lead a team of talented web programmers, working on the web portal for one of our high profile, best in class games.

This is an opportunity to join an exciting team at a critical time in the projects’ development and develop and manage a team to push the limits of quality & performance. You will work alongside other Leads and Directors to set best in class standards on every aspect of development.

As a candidate for the Lead Web Programmer opening, you are expected to have proven experience within a similar role, with broad knowledge and experience working across a wide variety of technical challenges with a small or mid-sized technical team under your command. You will be in a pivotal position where you can help shape the technical parts of the web portal for the game and support the team doing so.

We are looking for a creative problem solver, an excellent communicator, someone who always shows high levels of enthusiasm and has a talent for supporting teams to deliver quality across the board. Importantly you must also be self-motivated, a strong team player who is proactive and with a personal desire to create web experiences of the highest standards.

The ideal candidate has a strong passion for both technical leadership and personal development of their team.

About you:

You are a highly experienced and passionate Technical Leader in web development, driven to create engaging web experiences and solve complex technical challenges. Proactive, positive, and open to change, you possess excellent written and verbal communication skills across all disciplines.

You bring deep technical expertise in React, backed by strong coding standards, methodologies, and Agile experience. You are proficient in managing AWS infrastructure, alongside core AWS services. You are also familiar with Dependency Injection (e.g., Inversify), Sanity CMS, BugSnag, and Datadog.

As an inspiring leader and role model, you guide your technical team, provide constructive feedback, and collaborate closely with Producers, Designers, Artists, and Programmers to define the technical roadmap. You ensure best-in-class technical delivery, maintaining high standards for user experience, quality, and performance, and create clear technical plans to deliver projects on time and within budget.

We have some fantastic benefits we offer our employees… Here are just some of them:
