Legal Billing Specialist- Insurance Relations

We're seeking an experienced Legal Billing Specialist with a strong background in insurance carrier relations to support our compliance with the No Surprises Act (NSA) — the federal law protecting patients from unexpected out-of-network medical bills and establishing structured payment dispute resolution between insurers and providers. In this role, you'll oversee the tracking, escalation, and recovery of NSA awards, settlements, and reimbursements, ensuring accuracy and efficiency across every collection.

What You'll Do

Build and maintain strong relationships with insurance carriers to resolve outstanding awards, underpayments, and discrepancies.

Coordinate with carriers to ensure timely, accurate client payments.

Track and follow up on outstanding carrier responses.

Analyze and interpret medical EOBs to verify accuracy of carrier responses and payment claims

Act as the liaison to provide carrier updates to legal and finance regarding NSA awards.

Ensure all activities comply with HIPAA regulations and confidentiality standards.

What You Bring

Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, Public Health, or a related field.

3+ years of experience in healthcare insurance operations or a comparable area.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills for engaging with carriers and stakeholders.

Strong analytical and organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.

Proficiency interpreting medical EOBs.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively, managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Proficiency in MS Excel.

Familiarity with case management platforms (e.g., Salesforce) preferred.

Knowledge of NSA eligibility is preferred.

Hiring Range: $60,000-$65,000 / year, commensurate with experience
