Job Description:

Licensed Practical Nurse - Float (LPN)

Location: Manhattan, NY (Central Park, Kips Bay, Upper East Side, Yorkville, Washington Heights)

• Hours: 4/10 hour days, Mon, Wed-Fri 7:30a-6p (RDO Tuesday)
• Organization: New York Cancer & Blood Specialists (NYCBS)

In This Role, You Will:

• •Update and maintain the electronic medical record with up to date vital signs, patient demographics, medication reconciliation, allergies and medical diagnoses
• •Manage Physician inbox messages and prioritize tasks assigned via the electronic medical record
• •Assist in maintaining the medical inventory; place orders for new materials and stock rooms to ensure adequate supplies for physician staff
• •Clean and prepare examination rooms prior to patient appointments
• •Escort patients to exam rooms
• •Provide patient education concerning medications, management of diseases, home treatments, and special diets
• •Assist physician with exams and/or procedures
• •Prepare and administer Injections
• •Phlebotomy and collection of other lab specimens
• •Perform point of care lab testing
• •Perform EKGs
• •Administer and document medication under a physician’s order and follows the five (5) medication rights and reduce the potential for medical error
• •Must be willing and able to float throughout our Manhattan locations

We Require:

• •Current NYS LPN license required
• •At least 1 year of LPN experience preferred
• •Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required
• •Spanish-speaking preferred
• •Consistent professional conduct and meticulous attention to detail
• •Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as excellent interpersonal skills with patients, staff, and other health care professionals
• •Experience with EMR’s
• •Reliable transportation to any of NYCBS location for patient care needs
