We are an age 2 through Grade 12 school that seeks to nourish children’s innate curiosity and support them in becoming exemplary citizens and visionary leaders. To accomplish this, we seek to hire great people with a passion for educating, serving, and connecting with our vibrant student body.
POSITION SUMMARY
This part-time position will report to the Buildings and Grounds Supervisor, and assist with all needs of the Facilities Department, including painting, drywall, plumbing work orders, general work orders, assisting with preventive maintenance, and running equipment as necessary. The position will also assist the rest of the facilities team with event setup, snow removal, on-call rotation, and other tasks as assigned. The ability to deliver excellent customer service to faculty and staff is required.
This is a part-time, 10-hour per week position with flexible hours to be determined by the incumbent and the Director of Operations.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
Environment
Outdoor environment subject to changing conditions and temperatures exceeding 90 degrees at times
Regular exposures to fumes, dust, dirt, oil/grease, odors, and loud noises
Driving a vehicle to conduct work
Working with or around machinery with moving parts
Physical Demands
Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a variety of equipment
Standing and walking for extended periods of time
Verbal, auditory, and written capabilities to effectively communicate in an articulate manner
Lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling object(s) weighing up to 75 pounds
Occasional bending, kneeling, and crouching
Reaching overhead, above the shoulders and horizontally
Climbing ladders and working from heights as necessary
Working with tools and powered machinery
KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES
Safety best practices and work methods; proper lifting techniques
Read and understand Material Safety Data Sheets (SDS)
Oral and written communication skills
Safe operation of vehicles and equipment
Knowledge of plumbing and general facility maintenance
High school diploma or equivalent
Three years of experience in facilities maintenance
Background checks as required
Valid Virginia driver's license, and clean driving record
WHAT WE OFFER
Generous compensation, ranging from $16 - $20 per hour, depending on experience
