Summary

This position is located in Greenville, NC in the Facility Operations Service, located at the GHCC (Greenville Health Care Center).

Duties

The primary purpose of the position is to perform general maintenance: Inspection & Quality Control: Inspects maintenance and repair work performed by carpenters, plumbers, and painters. Identifies deficiencies and coordinates corrective actions with the supervisor. Carpentry & Wall Repair: Repairs damaged walls and structural frames. Fills, smooths, and sands surface to original structural specifications. Painting & Surface Preparation: Mixes and applies paint to interior building surfaces using brushes or rollers. Ensures exact color matching and appropriate paint types, specializing in repairing spill-damaged areas. Equipment & Material Transport: Utility trucks safely operate (up to 1-ton capacity) to transport essential tools, materials, and equipment to active facilities and CBOCs. Physical Security & Key Control: Serves as the primary key custodian. Manages key control registers, ensures secure storage, and conducts periodic inventory inspections. Generates only authorized duplicates in strict compliance with Physical Security Plans. Safety & Compliance Oversight: Leads monthly building safety rounds in coordination with the Contracting Officer Representative (COR) and the building lessor. Conducts mandatory monthly fire extinguisher inspections, reports hazards to leadership, and serves on local space and safety committees. Administrative Coordination: Generates tracks and manages facility work orders and maintenance requests. Dispatches work orders directly to the lessor's building manager. Multi-Site Scope: Performs skilled minor repairs outside the scope of the standard lease contract. Supports four regional locations: Greenville Health Care Center, Morehead City CBOC, Cherry Point Clinic, and Havelock Clinic. Office Furniture Arrangement: Relocate furniture, equipment and other items that are damaged and outdated, also assembles, install and delivers RA equipment for Reasonable Accommodations purposes. Work Schedule: 8-4:30p, Monday-Friday Position Description Title/PD#: Maintenance Worker/PD068660 Physical Requirements: Incumbent must move and control heavy furniture and equipment. Incumbent works from ladders frequently. He/she often works in areas that are cramped, dirty and in hard-to-reach locations. The work may involve prolonged crouching and standing and frequent stooping, bending, kneeling, climbing, and working in exhausting and uncomfortable positions. The incumbent frequently lifts or carries tools, equipment, ladders, parts, and supplies up to 50 pounds. Occasionally, the incumbent will be required to lift and carry items over 50 pounds. Occasionally, pushes loads weighing up to 500 pounds. Promotion Potential: The selectee may be promoted to the full performance level without further competition when all regulatory, qualification, and performance requirements are met. Selection at a lower grade level does not guarantee promotion to the full performance level. Working Conditions- Required to work in storage buildings, pods, trailers, vehicles and warehouses that may be hot, cold, drafty, and poorly lighted. Will be required to work outdoors, on docks, making deliveries in all types of weather conditions during all seasons. Hazardous materials may be encounter in daily work activities. Duties will be subject to the possibility of trips, falls, scrapes, cuts, bruises, or injury from the use of equipment. All types bf Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) may be required. Will be subject to conditions that could result in serious accidents; precautions will be taken. Must possess a valid, state driver's license or commercial driver's license (CDL), as applicable, if required to operate a motor vehicle or commercial vehicle.

Qualifications

Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities.
