Job Summary

Performs mammography exams and procedures. The Radiologic Technologist supports the fulfillment of the department mission to perform mammography testing that meets and exceeds customer expectations through accurate radiologic studies, continuous performance improvement and timely reporting of results.

Key Responsibilities and Essential Functions

• •Verifies patient information and order prior to procedure.
• •Follows department protocol for all exams.
• •Uses proper procedure for venous access (if needed).
• •Monitors patient during exams.
• •Uses aseptic and sterile technique (as indicated).
• •Uses Radiation protection for patient and self.
• •Assists Radiologist with procedure as necessary.
• •Responds to STAT and routine requests on a timely basis.
• •Utilizes teach back methodology for patient education.
• Day to day operation of particular specialty area.
• •Assurance of compliance with all regulations particular to each area.
• •Correct and efficient operation of all equipment related to the procedure and area including Picture
• •Archiving and Communication System.
• •Performs other duties, as assigned by leadership.
• •Maintains a professional, clean and orderly work area.
• •Produces quality images for Radiologist’s review (keeps repeats to a minimum).
• •Provides accurate documentation in the electronic medical record.
• •Annotates all images according to policy and ACR guidelines.
• •Obtaining patient history and symptom-based clinical information through patient’s record or verbally
• •with the patient and recording it in the EHR.
• •Records all pertinent information related to the procedure in the electronic medical record
• •Updates information in EHR and Mammography Information System as needed.
• •Prints, tracks and distributes FDA required lay-person’s results letters.
• •Completes incident reports when appropriate.

Minimum Education, Experience, Training and Licensures Required

• •Associate's Degree
• •Completion of formal training in Radiologic Technology at an ARRT/JCERT approved school or University
• •Current Kentucky Board of Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy (KMIRT) License
• •Current American Registry Radiologic Technology (ARRT) Registry
• •Obtain American Registry Radiologic Technology in Mammography – ARRT(M) within 12 months of being hired into position
• •BLS within 90 days of hire
