Manager - Regulatory Affairs & International Trade Compliance

Role Summary

We are looking for a highly driven Regulatory Affairs & International Trade Compliance Specialist to manage end-to-end regulatory approvals, licensing, and trade compliance across global markets. The ideal candidate will have experience handling chemical regulations, export controls, customs compliance, and licensing requirements for specialty chemicals, critical metals, and scrap materials. This role requires close collaboration with customs authorities, regulatory agencies, logistics partners, and internal business teams to enable compliant international trade operations.

Key Responsibilities

Trade Compliance & Licensing

• •Obtain and manage SCOMET classifications and export licenses for controlled and dual-use products.
• •Handle import and export licenses for scrap materials (metal, plastic, e-waste), critical metals, and specialty chemicals , including restricted and hazardous product categories.
• •Manage regulatory filings and approvals with DGFT , including IEC, Advance Authorizations, EPCG, and other product-specific licenses.
• •Ensure compliance with export control regulations and trade restrictions across operating regions.

Chemical Regulatory Compliance

• •Lead EU REACH and UK REACH compliance activities, including registrations, Only Representative (OR) arrangements, and SVHC obligations.
• •Monitor and ensure adherence to global chemical compliance frameworks such as US TSCA, K-REACH, China chemical regulations , and other country-specific requirements.
• •Support product registrations, regulatory documentation, and market access requirements for new geographies.

Customs & Logistics Compliance

• •Manage HS code classification , customs documentation, duty structures, and tariff-related assessments.
• •Partner with customs brokers and freight forwarders to resolve clearance issues and compliance escalations.
• •Ensure adherence to dangerous goods transportation regulations and international shipping requirements.

Environmental & Hazardous Materials Compliance

• •Monitor compliance with the Basel Convention and cross-border movement regulations for scrap and recyclable materials.
• •Review and maintain SDS/MSDS documentation , labeling requirements, and hazardous substance compliance.
• •Track evolving environmental and hazardous waste regulations affecting trade operations.

Regulatory Intelligence & Stakeholder Management

• •Build and maintain a centralized regulatory compliance tracker for global operations.
• •Monitor regulatory changes and trade policy updates across key markets and proactively advise business teams.
• •Liaise with government authorities, customs agencies, legal advisors, certification bodies, and industry associations.
• •Conduct regulatory feasibility assessments to support product launches and entry into new markets.

Required Qualifications

• •Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, International Trade, Law, Regulatory Affairs, or a related field .
• •3-5 years of experience in international trade compliance, regulatory affairs, customs, or export-import operations.
• •Strong knowledge of SCOMET, REACH, UK REACH, DGFT regulations, Foreign Trade Policy (FTP), and Basel Convention frameworks .
• •Experience managing import/export licensing for restricted, controlled, or hazardous products.
• •Understanding of customs regulations, tariff classifications, and global supply chain compliance.

Preferred Qualifications

• •Experience in the chemicals, metals, recycling, commodity trading, or manufacturing sectors .
• •Familiarity with TSCA, K-REACH, GHS, CLP, and dangerous goods transportation regulations.
• •Exposure to international customs and trade compliance software/tools.
• •Professional certifications in trade compliance, customs, or regulatory affairs will be an advantage.
