About the Role

As a Manufacturing Engineer , you’ll play a key role in shaping the manufacturing processes of UMC’s parts. You will collaborate with a skilled team under the guidance of a Senior Manufacturing Engineer. You’ll optimize processes, meet customer needs, and drive cost-effective solutions, all while advancing your career and staying aligned with our core values: Great People, Going Beyond, and Growing.

What You'll Do

Part Cost Estimation

• •Assist lead Manufacturing Engineers to quote work utilizing other team members as resources, such as Machinists, Application Engineers, Quality Engineers, Sales Engineers, CNC Programming, CMM Programming, Supply Chain, and Scheduling.
• •Review customer requirements by examining specifications, prints, and models to develop an understanding of the quoting process.
• •Support development and entry of manufacturing processes into ERP system, including raw materials, manufacturing processes, finishing processes, outside services, and estimated machine cycle times.
• •Assist in identifying requirements for specialized tooling, fixturing, or inspection equipment.

Part Manufacturing Process Development

• •Support development of cost-effective processes and procedures in conjunction with production personnel.
• •Assist with the procurement of tooling, fixturing, and gaging by working with external suppliers or coordinating with internal departments.
• •Support creation and maintenance of Manufacturing Plans in ERP.
• •Work with Application Engineers to provide CNC Programming with complete machining plans including tooling, fixtures, cutting parameters, and models as required.

Ensure Compliance to Customer Specifications and Industry Standards

• •Support the review of processes to ensure compliance with customer requirements and AS/ISO standards.
• •Participate in technical discussions with internal teams as needed.

Collaboration and Communication

• •Work with Quality team to support disposition of nonconformances and development of rework processes.
• •Work with Quality team to establish inspection plans that support manufacturing processes and customer requirements.

Continuous Improvement

• •Participate in continuous improvement projects as assigned.
• •Support the analysis and implementation of manufacturing change requests.

Requirements

Education and Experience:

• •Undergraduate degree in Engineering or related technical field required; equivalent relevant industry experience may be considered.
• •0-2 years of progressive experience in manufacturing, quality, or related technical roles.
• •Foundational knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 13485, AS9100, and applicable regulatory requirements.
• •Developing knowledge of SPC and MSA principles with ability to execute studies under direction.
• •Demonstrated ability to follow structured problem-solving methodologies.

Skills and Competencies:

• •Ability to read blueprints with a basic understanding of GD&T, requiring review or confirmation by others.
• •Ability to participate in technical conversations by asking questions, sharing observations, and following guidance.
• •Ensure all internal and external customers receive positive service experiences through timely and accurate task execution.
• •Demonstrates a sense of urgency in completing assigned tasks and meeting established deadlines.
