About Cardless

Cardless is building the infrastructure for the world's best companies to design, build, and launch financial products of their own. Companies like Coinbase and Bilt use Cardless to create credit cards that feel entirely their own. In an industry where branded financial products usually mean shared logos and shared control, Cardless is built to disappear. Our APIs and components shape the journey from the first application to every purchase, reward, and moment of support that follows, while we handle lending, compliance, and operations behind the scenes.

In September 2025, we raised a $60 million Series C led by Spark Capital, bringing our total funding to $170 million. The team is over 70 people and scaling toward profitability by year-end 2026.

We're looking for kind, humble people with high standards and low egos. We take the work seriously without taking ourselves too seriously. We see what could be improved, make it so, and leave every product, system, and team better than we found it.

About the role

We're looking for a detail-oriented, collaborative compliance professional to own marketing compliance across Cardless's credit card programs. This role sits at the intersection of compliance, marketing, and product: you'll review marketing materials, disclosures, and application flows so our customer-facing content meets regulatory and partner bank requirements, and work closely with marketing, product, operations, and legal to bring new card programs and campaigns to market in a compliant, customer-friendly way. Cardless is a program manager that partners with FDIC- and OCC-regulated issuing banks, so your reviews account for obligations across multiple bank partners, each with its own expectations and approval process.

This is a hands-on, individual-contributor role with no direct reports. You'll personally run the marketing and disclosure reviews and build the review process itself: clear checklists, approval workflows, and audit-ready records. It is a strong opportunity for someone midway through their compliance career who wants hands-on exposure to fintech product launches and marketing reviews, and who is eager to learn from a strong compliance team.

What you'll do

Review and approve marketing materials, disclosures, and application flows for compliance with applicable regulations and partner bank requirements.

Support new card program launches by ensuring required disclosures and regulatory elements are accurately incorporated.

Partner with marketing, product, design, and operations to translate regulatory requirements into practical, customer-friendly guidance.

Interpret and apply Regulation Z, Regulation B, UDAAP, CAN-SPAM, TCPA, FCRA, and related consumer protection laws.

Maintain marketing compliance policies, procedures, and review checklists, and keep review records audit ready with clear approval workflows.

Escalate higher-risk or complex issues to senior compliance leadership with clear analysis and recommendations, and support partner bank reviews and inquiries.

Contribute to training and awareness that promotes compliant marketing practices across the organization.

What we're looking for

4 to 5 years of experience in compliance, legal, risk, or a related function within banking, fintech, or financial services.

Working knowledge of consumer protection and marketing regulations (Regulation Z, Regulation B, UDAAP, CAN-SPAM, TCPA, FCRA).

Strong attention to detail and the ability to review customer-facing content through a regulatory lens.

Clear written and verbal communication, with practical, solutions-oriented feedback.

A collaborative mindset and comfort managing multiple projects and deadlines across marketing, product, and operations.

Comfort using AI tools to work more efficiently and expand review coverage, and proven ability to operate independently without a defined playbook or daily check-ins.

Bonus Points

Experience reviewing marketing materials for credit card or consumer lending products.

Exposure to fintech or partner-bank program structures.

Interest in consumer finance, loyalty programs, and credit card products, and curiosity about how compliance can enable responsible growth.

This role isn't a fit if

We work in the office 5 days a week in San Francisco. If you need a hybrid or remote schedule, this is not the seat.

There is no playbook for this role and no daily check-in. If you do your best work with structure handed to you, this is not the seat.

This is a hands-on build, not a maintenance job. If you are looking for a quiet compliance role with settled processes, this is not the seat.

Why this role

Own marketing compliance for a growing set of co-branded credit card programs, with direct influence on what customers see and how new programs come to market.

Build the review function, not inherit it, and work across multiple bank-partner relationships with different regulatory expectations, which is broader exposure than a single-institution role.

Be part of a well-respected compliance team and culture, with high autonomy, interesting projects, and room to grow.

Compensation

This role has an annual starting salary range of $130,000 to $150,000 plus equity and benefits (see below). Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skills, experience, and specific work location.
