As part of the Consumer marketing department, you will serve as a trusted advisor and one of the primary Marketing contacts to the Consumer Deposit Products and Payments (CDPP) business. You will build valuable relationships with business leaders by translating business, client, and product strategies into supporting integrated marketing strategies and plans leveraging all available marketing tactics such as digital and direct to consumer. This role has strategic influence on marketing for the CDPP business.
You are a decidedly driven professional skilled in both strategy and execution. You will collaborate and negotiate with internal and external marketing partners to develop integrated marketing plans, programs, and tactics that leverage marketing capabilities to achieve business goals; enhance client experience; and acquire, grow, and retain profitable client relationships. You will work within an agile pod, including participation in sprint reviews and quarterly PI planning sessions, to gain alignment on upcoming priorities while ensuring pod capacity.
As a valued member of the department, you have consumer deposits marketing experience at a top bank, or financial services/marketing experience with Fortune 500 companies with a proven track record of successfully navigating large, complex organizations operating in agile or pod-based environments. You have supported marketing planning for the business with a comprehensive understanding of how the business operates to solve technical, operational, and business problems. You also have experience analyzing campaign results to inform future strategies and forecasts and crafting compelling and insights-based presentations for senior leaders.
The Marketing Planning Manager is accountable for independently developing, implementing and leading cross-functional strategy planning to support moderately complex Marketing portfolios. This position will work closely with the line of business and members of the Marketing team to develop marketing strategies and plans; understands market and growth drivers as well as grows value propositions and proof points that further our competitive advantage, and translates business strategies into marketing plans.
Depth & Scope:
- Marketing advisor for a business, typically leading or contributing on projects of moderate scope and complexity
- Highly seasoned professional role requiring substantial knowledge/expertise in a complex field and knowledge of broader related areas
- Integrates knowledge of the enterprise sub-function’s or business line’s overarching strategy in developing solutions across multiple functions or operations
- Interprets internal/external business challenges and the industry environment, recommends course of action and best practices to improve products, processes or services
- Acts as a technical expert/lead integrating cross-function understanding within their own field of specialty; may manage team(s) of related specialists
- Leads cross-functional teams or projects with significant resource requirements, risk and/or complexity
- Independently manages end-to-end functional programs
- Solves or may lead others to solve complex problems; leads efforts or partners with others to develop new solutions
- Uses sophisticated analytical thought to exercise judgement and identify solutions
- Impacts the achievement of sub-function or business line objectives within the area they are accountable for
- Work is guided by policies and industry standards/methods
- Communicates difficult concepts; converts information to compelling business context and advice; influences and gains alignment across increasingly senior stakeholders
- Works autonomously as the lead and guides others within area of expertise
Education & Experience:
- Undergraduate degree and/or equivalent relevant experience
- 7+ years experience
- Ability to work successfully as a member of a team and independently
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
Preferred Skills:
Deposits product marketing experience.
7+ years of prominent banking institution experience.
Bachelor’s degree in Marketing
Comfortable navigating ambiguity, with the ability to make sound decisions, adapt to evolving priorities and drive progress in complex and undefined situations.
Forward-thinking and innovation mindset, with an ability to identify emerging opportunities, connect idea and teams across the organization, translating new thinking into meaningful business impact
Deep specialized (SME) knowledge within marketing planning or line of business marketing.
Experience with forecasting and comfort navigating P&L impact/drivers
Ability to apply in-depth and specialized expertise and/or a significant breadth of expertise in Marketing and other related disciplines including creative development and market research.
Knowledge of the industry's competitive landscape and an understanding of the market and regulatory factors that shape the industry.
Ability to interpret internal and external business challenges and implement best practices to improve products, processes, or services.
Ability to lead projects of significant complexity and moderate risk exposure, in addition to leading a team of professional peers.
Sophisticated understanding of clients through the interpretation of end user research and analytics.
Ability to provide direction, coaching and leadership to other teammates, particularly around marketing programs development & management, and around creative development.
Ability to exercise independent judgment in solving technical, operational, and organizational challenges in the context of business objectives and priorities.
Strong relationship building skills resulting in the ability to influence others to adopt a new perspective.
Strong presentation skills and communication skills.
Demonstrated budget management experience.
Customer Accountabilities:
- Creates integrated marketing campaigns that meet business and marketing strategies and objectives
- Gathers, integrates and interprets existing views of the target audience, including demographic, attitudinal, and behavioral data to create campaign kick offs and briefs
- Translates marketing objectives and consumer insights into communication strategy (benefit, offer, reason to believe RTB or proof points)
- Creates or contributes to an inspiring creative brief for media and creative agencies, evaluates creative campaigns and media strategies based on their impact on customer behavior
- Understands role of different media options and their impact on achieving marketing objectives, and oversees flawless execution of tactical media and creative plans
