Position Summary:

The Master Data Management Consultant III is responsible for enterprise master data management across the financial, organizational, material, asset, and business partner domains, establishing the data standards, quality rules, and stewardship practices that allow financial and logistics information to reconcile without manual intervention, in support of a large-scale, greenfield SAP S/4HANA financial management modernization program for a Department of War (DoW) organization. The consultant independently owns assigned master data domains, leads stewardship and data quality sessions for that scope, and resolves moderately complex harmonization and duplication issues across legacy sources. This position operates at Level III of the C5MI job architecture and contributes to delivery across a five-gate milestone structure spanning pre-design approval, preliminary design review, critical design review, production readiness review, and closeout.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

Owns assigned master data domains, including attribute definition, business rules, valid value sets, and domain-specific data quality thresholds.

Designs and implements match, merge, and survivorship rules to establish authoritative records from multiple legacy sources, and resolves conflicting source data; where SAP Master Data Governance is the enforcement platform, this includes consolidation and mass processing rule design.

Defines and maintains data quality rules, measures, and scorecards; analyzes data quality trends and drives remediation with data stewards and functional owners.

Leads stewardship working sessions with business data owners to establish ownership, approval paths, and remediation accountability for assigned domains.

Designs master data lifecycle processes, including creation, change, extension, blocking, and marking-for-deletion, and the controls applied at each transition.

Supports cross-domain consistency analysis, ensuring financial, material, asset, and organizational master data align to a single set of enterprise definitions.

Handles moderately complex configuration and design work with minimal oversight, exercising judgment within established program design practices.

Leads requirements gathering sessions and fit-to-standard workshops for assigned scope and documents the resulting functional designs and configuration rationale.

Owns assigned deliverables end to end, including design, configuration, documentation, test execution, and defect resolution across unit, integration, and user acceptance testing.

Mentors junior team members informally and reviews configuration and documentation produced within the assigned scope for quality and standards compliance.

Supports authority to operate, cybersecurity, audit, and compliance activities associated with the program, including production of control evidence for assigned configuration.

Supports cutover, go-live, and post-deployment hypercare activities for assigned scope, and contributes to transition of the delivered capability into the sustainment organization.

Travels to client sites up to 50% to support workshops, design sessions, testing events, cutover, and go-live activities, varying based on client program schedules.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience; 3-5 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor’s degree, or 5-7 years of relevant experience without a Bachelor’s degree, including demonstrated experience owning deliverables and solving moderately complex problems.

3+ years of master data management or data governance experience in an enterprise environment.

Demonstrated experience defining data quality rules, measures, and scorecards, and driving remediation with business data owners.

Experience with match, merge, survivorship, and duplicate resolution across multiple source systems.

Working knowledge of ERP master data domains and the downstream financial impact of master data defects.

Proficiency with SQL or equivalent data analysis tooling.

Ability to exercise judgment within defined practices and handle moderately complex issues with minimal oversight.

Demonstrated experience owning deliverables through design, configuration, testing, and documentation.

Experience supporting multi-system SAP landscapes.

Secret security clearance required: must hold an active Secret clearance or be able to obtain and maintain one prior to assignment (requires U.S. citizenship).

Nice to Have:

Active Secret security clearance at time of hire.

Experience supporting federal ERP modernization programs, Department of War (DoW) SAP environments, or other defense business systems acquired under DoDI 5000.75.

Experience with SAP Master Data Governance as the enforcement platform for master data policy.

Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP) or equivalent data management certification.

Familiarity with federal financial audit drivers, including the Financial Improvement and Audit Readiness (FIAR) methodology, DoD 7000.14-R (Financial Management Regulation), and FFMIA.

Experience aligning organizational master data to a force structure hierarchy or equivalent enterprise organizational data initiative.

Experience with enterprise data catalog, lineage, or metadata management tooling.

Compensation: In accordance with pay transparency law, the expected salary range for this position is $90,000-$105,000 annually. The actual compensation offered will be determined based on factors such as the candidate’s experience, qualifications, skills, and location. We are committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. This posted range reflects our good faith estimate of the compensation we reasonably expect to offer for this role at the time of posting.
