  • Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8.5-hour shifts, including a 30-minute unpaid meal break. The standard start time is 6 :0 0 a.m. ; however, start times may vary between 6 :00 a.m. and 8:00 a.m. based on operational requirements, preventive maintenance schedules, equipment availability, and emergency service needs.
  • Participation in a rotating on-call schedule is required.
  • Help build and lead a new internal MHE maintenance program.
  • Lineage is building an internal Material Handling Equipment (MHE) maintenance team supporting multiple Montreal-area facilities. We are looking for an experienced technician to serve as the senior technical resource and working lead for the program.

This role combines hands-on troubleshooting and repair with technical leadership. The successful candidate will help establish maintenance standards, prioritize service work, coordinate preventive maintenance, support parts and vendor decisions, mentor junior technicians, and help shape how the new department operates.

Direct forklift/MHE experience is strongly preferred, but candidates with advanced transferable experience in heavy equipment, industrial maintenance, electromechanics, automotive diagnostics, mobile equipment, or similar technical environments are encouraged to apply.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform inspections, preventive maintenance, advanced troubleshooting, and repairs on electric powered industrial trucks (PITs).
  • Diagnose complex electrical, hydraulic, mechanical, steering, braking, and electronic control-system failures.
  • Coordinate and prioritize service requests based on safety, equipment criticality, operational impact, and technician workload.
  • Determine whether work should be completed internally, delegated to the Level I technician, or escalated to an external/OEM service provider.
  • Coordinate preventive maintenance schedules and ensure PMs and corrective work orders are completed on time.
  • Review work quality, repeat failures, and recurring breakdowns; recommend corrective actions that improve fleet reliability and reduce downtime.
  • Provide technical guidance, coaching, and hands-on training to junior technicians.
  • Support development of troubleshooting standards, PM practices, CMMS discipline, parts strategy, and maintenance procedures.
  • Inspect, diagnose, and support repairs on lead-acid and lithium-ion battery systems, chargers, and related components.
  • Accurately document inspections, repairs, labour, parts usage, and equipment status in the CMMS. Training on the specific CMMS will be provided if required.
  • Coordinate third-party service providers for specialized work and verify completion and quality.
  • Respond to emergency service calls during scheduled on-call rotations and use sound judgment to prioritize operational and safety needs.
  • Assist with maintenance of additional warehouse equipment as the internal maintenance program expands.
  • Follow all company safety procedures, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), battery-handling requirements, and applicable site safety practices.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES)

  • Several years of relevant hands-on maintenance and troubleshooting experience; 3+ years is preferred.
  • Strong technical troubleshooting ability involving mechanical systems and at least one of the following: electrical/electronic controls, hydraulics, or mobile equipment systems.
  • Experience in MHE/forklift service, heavy equipment, industrial maintenance, electromechanics, automotive diagnostics, mobile equipment repair, or a comparable technical field.
  • Ability to diagnose equipment problems systematically, use technical documentation, and determine when escalation is required.
  • Comfort using multimeters, diagnostic tools, service manuals, wiring diagrams, and manufacturer technical resources.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize competing service needs across multiple sites.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work directly with operations, vendors, and leadership.
  • Ability and interest in mentoring junior technicians and helping build consistent maintenance practices.
  • Basic computer proficiency. Previous CMMS experience is an asset, but training on the required system will be provided.
  • Ability to work independently while knowing when to seek additional technical or vendor support.
  • Comfortable working in refrigerated/cold-storage warehouse environments while using company-provided PPE and freezer gear.
  • Valid Class 5 Quebec Driver’s Licence.

Experience That Would Be an Asset - Not a Requirement

  • Direct experience maintaining electric forklifts or other powered industrial trucks.
  • Raymond equipment experience, including reach trucks, order pickers, pallet trucks, walkie riders, riders, or similar electric MHE.
  • OEM/dealership field-service experience.
  • Lead-acid and lithium-ion battery systems, chargers, battery-management systems, or related components.
  • Advanced electrical diagnostics, CAN-bus/electronic controls, or OEM diagnostic software.
  • Hydraulic system diagnosis and repair.
  • Experience using a CMMS for work-order management, maintenance history, and PM scheduling.
  • Previous experience as a senior technician, working lead, trainer, mentor, or technical resource.
  • Industrial mechanics, electromechanics, heavy-equipment, automotive, or related trade certification/training.
  • Cold-storage or refrigerated warehouse experience.
  • Welding or light fabrication experience.
