Mechanical Support Engineer

The Mechanical Support Engineer provides technical support to offshore drilling units, ensuring the reliability, integrity, and regulatory compliance of mechanical systems and structural assets.

RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES

• •Ensure all drilling unit assets operate within defined design limits while maintaining structural and mechanical integrity.
• •Support Risk-Based Inspection (RBI) programs.
• •Support third-party Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) campaigns.
• •Support pipe inspection monitoring and control activities.
• •Provide technical support to offshore maintenance teams on mechanical and structural issues.
• •Support troubleshooting activities and perform root cause analysis (RCA) for critical equipment failures.
• •Assist offshore teams in ensuring compliance with company procedures and OEM requirements.
• •Support repair campaigns performed onshore.
• •Witness Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) of repaired or new equipment onshore.
• •Perform QA/QC of third-party inspection reports.
• •Participate in risk assessments and incident investigations.

REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS

Required

• •Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• •More than 5 years of experience in offshore drilling operations, maintenance, and/or engineering.
• •Strong knowledge of drilling rig systems and mechanical equipment, structural integrity and corrosion mechanisms, and inspection techniques and standards (API, ASME, ISO, NR-13, etc.).
• •Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• •Ability to support remote operations and manage multiple priorities.
• •Effective communication with offshore teams and stakeholders.
• •Solid understanding of asset integrity and reliability engineering principles.

Preferred

• •Experience supporting drilling rigs (drillships, semi-submersibles, or jack-ups).
• •Familiarity with the Brazilian regulatory framework (ANP, NR standards).

Working Conditions

Travel domestically, internationally and offshore as required.
