Summary of Job Duties:

Medical Laboratory Scientist specializing in Microbiology with experience performing clinical laboratory testing, identifying and evaluating microorganisms, and supporting accurate diagnosis and treatment of infectious diseases.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications

• •Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Laboratory Sciences, Medical Technology, Chemistry, or Biology
• •ASCP or another accrediting agency certified or eligible (Certification must be obtained within one year of employment).

Preferred Qualifications

• •Bachelor's degree in medical laboratory
• •Previous clinical laboratory experience, preferably in microbiology
• •Current ASCP and/or CHT (ABHI) certification

Additional Information:

Job Requirements:

• •Performs testing of patient samples, interprets, reviews, and prepares patient test results for review by the Supervisor and/or Medical Director.
• •Maintains all aspects of QC and QA relevant to the CAP certification standards.
• •Interacts with staff from various departments to coordinate the proper acquisition, testing and reporting of patient test results.
• •Ensures that the supplies used in the testing of patient samples are available in adequate quantities and that they are used efficiently.
• •Assist in employee/student training and employee competency as assigned.
