Summary

About the Position: The Medical Support Assistant (Scheduler/Office Automation) provides support to the clinics at A. T. Augusta Military Medical Center in Fort Belvoir, Virginia, helping ensure consistent, high-quality patient care and facility operations. This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

Duties

  • Serves as Medical Support Assistant (MSA) by acting as a mentor and guide to the medical administrative support team for daily front desk, clerical operations, and providing guidance for clinical service remedies.
  • Serves as the master scheduler for the medical administrative support team. Responsible for the day-to-day administration, template creation, and template publication of medical team schedules.
  • Adheres to and ensures end of day processing, close out procedure, and monitoring of incomplete encounters.
  • Adjusts times of appointments based on changes in healthcare provider’s schedules and shifts patients to other clinic healthcare providers in case of unexpected absences of providers.
  • Reviews and provides strategic optimization of provider panels, ensuring equity and case-mix complexity for all providers.

Qualifications

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Additional information about transcripts is in this document. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service which includes utilizing an automated scheduling system, maintaining electronic files/documents, assisting customers and visitors. Proficiency Required: This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors.
