Lead Occupational Therapist – Mental Health Rehabilitation Services

Our client is seeking an experienced Lead Occupational Therapist to join the multidisciplinary team in Surrey. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled Occupational Therapist looking to take the next step in their career within a specialist mental health rehabilitation setting.

The service provides care and treatment for adult males aged 18+ with enduring mental health conditions, including personality disorders, substance misuse issues, challenging behaviours, and individuals who may have a forensic background . As Lead Occupational Therapist, you will play a pivotal role in supporting service users on their recovery journey while leading and developing the occupational therapy service.

Key Responsibilities:

Manage a complex caseload using evidence-based and person-centred occupational therapy approaches.

Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individual and group interventions that promote independence, self-maintenance, productivity, and leisure skills.

Participate fully within the multidisciplinary team and encourage service user engagement throughout their care pathway.

Lead and coordinate the delivery of occupational therapy treatment plans and interventions.

Ensure accurate, timely, and effective clinical documentation relating to patient progress and rehabilitation outcomes.

Support the supervision, development, and performance management of junior occupational therapy staff.

Deliver staff training and contribute to the ongoing development of clinical practice across the service.

Receive and respond to referrals, undertaking comprehensive assessments to identify and prioritise patient needs.

Support rehabilitation programmes that develop daily living skills, educational opportunities, and community integration.

Requirements:

HCPC registered Occupational Therapist.

Minimum of 3 years post-qualification experience .

Experience within mental health rehabilitation settings.

Experience using a range of psychometric and risk assessment tools.

Strong therapeutic skills with the ability to engage individuals with complex mental health needs.

Previous experience supervising and managing junior staff members.

Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills.

Full, clean UK driving licence.
