Summary
Organizational Location: This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Big Bend Sector, Mission Readiness Operations, located in Marfa,TX. Additional selections may be made to include other organizational divisions and/or units within the duty location(s) listed above.
Duties
This position uses your experience in various mission support duties that fulfill the goals and objectives of U.S. Border Patrol. This position starts at a salary of $89,508.00 (GS-12, Step 1) to $116,362.00 (GS-12, Step 10) In this Mission Support Specialist (Workforce Management) role, you will carry out a wide range of administrative programs, concepts, laws, policies, practices, and analytical methods to address technical issues or problems that contain several interrelated issues in workforce management. Typical duties and responsibilities include: Carrying out projects and performing studies to address multiple substantive, interrelated administrative issues and problems.- Providing advice involving workforce issues to senior leaders, supervisors, and nonsupervisory staff. Developing and coordinating hiring plans by obtaining input from program officials. Developing and delivering briefings, project papers, status and staff reports, and correspondence to managers to foster understanding and acceptance of findings and recommendations. Qualifications
Experience: You qualify for the GS-12 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as: Generating, updating, and maintaining various reports, providing updated information for CBP's internal Table of Organization (TO) tracker. Coordinating with the supervisor and staff to ensure receipt of documents and that actions are completed in a timely manner. Generating reports to track spending, identifying and resolving payroll discrepancies, and forecasting expenditures based on trends and operational needs. Participating in studies and making recommendations related to workforce management activities. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. You must: Meet all qualification requirements, including education if applicable to this position, subject to verification at any stage of the application process; and Meet all applicable Time in Grade requirements (current federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade or equivalent grade band in the federal service) by 10/06/2026. Current and former federal employees may be required to serve or complete a probationary period.
