News Photographer

At WOOD-TV, we’re successful because of the people we hire. What sets us apart is the video we capture across West Michigan that brings stories to life. The News Photographer operates video cameras to record images or scenes for news reports. This individual operates TVUs for live shots. You’ll create content for WOODTV+. You’ll help shoot vertical videos. You’ll even put on a reporter hat once in a while to ask questions and write content. And you’ll find video, dial in live shots and edit the stories we air on multiple platforms.

Responsibilities:

• •Shoots video for news reports.
• •Confers with other personnel to discuss assignments, logistics and shot requirements.
• •Sets up, composes and executes video shots.
• •Maintains video equipment.
• •Edits video clips for television broadcasts and CTV episodes.
• •Be willing to write content for newscasts on TV, segments on WOODTV+ and stories on WOODTV.com.
• •Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements & Skills:

• •College diploma preferred.
• •Fluency in English.
• •Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
• •We prefer someone with one year experience operating video recording equipment.
• •Proficiency with computers, telephones, copiers, scanners, fax machines and other office equipment.
• •Proficiency with video recording equipment.
• •Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
• •Flexibility to work any shift.

Work Environment/Physical Requirements:

• •High stress environment with deadline pressures.
• •Must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions and work indoors in environmentally controlled conditions.
• •Must be able to lift, set up and operate equipment or items such as cameras, tripods, lights, etc. up to 25 pounds.
