Operational Resilience Lead - ED

Executive Director -Firm Resilience

• This role is a hands-on leadership position within the Firm Resilience function, focused on advancing the firm's operational resilience beyond basic regulatory compliance.
• The function has grown from traditional business continuity and disaster recovery into broader operational resilience, including compliance with regulations such as the UK Operational Resilience rules. The next phase, called Resilience 3.0, is a transformation program aimed at redefining the business-as-usual operating model and improving how Firm Resilience partners with business units, technology teams, risk functions, and industry counterparties.

The successful candidate will be expected to shape strategy, drive execution, lead people, and improve the team's operating model. This is not a passive oversight role; it requires someone who understands how business continuity, disaster recovery, operational resilience, regulatory expectations, risk management, and business ownership all connect.

Key responsibilities include:

• •Delivering the operational resilience strategy
• •The person will help execute the firm's resilience strategy, ensuring regulatory expectations are met while also pushing the firm to go beyond minimum compliance. They will translate strategic priorities into practical roadmaps for the resilience team and partner functions.
• •Driving cultural change
• •A major focus is shifting resilience ownership from a centralized compliance-led model to one where business units take greater accountability. The role requires close partnership with first-line stakeholders and second-line risk/control functions to embed resilience into day-to-day risk management.
• •Leading and developing the team
• •The candidate will be responsible for people leadership, capability development, and shaping the team so it can operate more effectively in the next phase of the program.
• •Continuous improvement
• •The role involves improving processes, operating models, and ways of working to make the resilience function more efficient, impactful, and aligned to the evolving threat landscape. 15+ years experience.
• •Operational resilience experience, or related discipline (such as risk management) is beneficial.
• •Thought leadership is what is absolutely required for this role.
• •Technology proficiency, while not necessary, is beneficial.

Overall, this job is best suited to someone with strong experience in operational resilience, business continuity, disaster recovery, risk management, regulatory compliance, transformation, and team leadership, especially in a large financial services or highly regulated environment.
