About the Project/Venue

Located in downtown Mesa, Arizona, Mesa Convention Center is the largest event venue in the East Valley. The venue features nearly 40,000 square feet of flexible meeting and exhibit space, 26 breakout rooms, 40,000 square feet of outdoor function space, and an outdoor amphitheater with capacity for up to 5,000 guests. From conferences and trade shows to community gatherings, festivals, and live entertainment, Mesa Convention Center provides a versatile setting for memorable events and experiences.

About the Role

The Building Technician is a key member of the operations team, responsible for maintaining the facility and ensuring Mesa Convention Center remains safe, functional, and event-ready. This hands-on role supports the upkeep of building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and general maintenance, while responding to operational needs across a wide variety of events and programs. Working in a fast-paced, event-driven environment, the Building Technician plays an important role in delivering seamless experiences for guests, clients, and event organizers. WHAT YOU’LL DO (KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & OUTCOMES)

• •Perform routine inspections, maintenance, and repairs on building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and lighting throughout the venue
• •Support event operations by ensuring all facility spaces, equipment, and utilities are fully functional and event-ready
• •Respond to work orders and maintenance requests in a timely manner, troubleshooting issues and documenting all repairs
• •Assist with setup, breakdown, and operational needs for concerts, games, and special events, including equipment moves and facility adjustments
• •Monitor building safety, report hazards, and ensure compliance with facility standards, codes, and preventive maintenance schedules.

WHAT YOU BRING (QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE)

Education and/or Experience

• •High school diploma or GED required; technical or vocational training in building maintenance, HVAC, electrical, or related fields preferred
• •1–3 years of hands-on experience in facility maintenance, building operations, or a similar technician role; experience in a venue, arena, or stadium environment is a plus
• •Working knowledge of basic electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and mechanical systems, with the ability to safely use tools and equipment
• •Experience reading work orders, maintenance logs, and equipment manuals, with strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills

Skills and Abilities

• •Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to diagnose and resolve facility issues quickly and safely
• •Ability to work independently and in a fast-paced, event-driven environment with shifting priorities
• •Solid communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with team members, vendors, and event staff
• •Capability to lift, carry, and move equipment and materials as needed, including working at heights or in tight spaces
• •Strong attention to detail with a commitment to maintaining a safe, clean, and fully functional facility.

WORK ENVIRONMENT & TRAVEL

• •This role is based on site in Mesa, AZ
• •You may be required to work a non traditional schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays
