Position Summary:

The Operations Supervisor oversees daily hose manufacturing operations, ensuring production runs safely, efficiently, and in accordance with quality standards. This position plays a critical leadership role in ensuring accurate inventory handling, timely material preparation, and compliance with safety and quality standards. The Supervisor will lead a team of operators, and to support the custom production of high-performance rubber hoses for the agriculture, aerospace, and oil and gas industries.

Key Responsibilities:

Supervisory & Leadership Duties:

Production and scheduling

• •Direct daily production across the flexible mandrel hose manufacturing process, from material preparation through finished hose.
• •Assign employees to work orders and coordinate labor, equipment, and materials to meet production schedules.
• •Monitor production output, work in process, and order status; communicate delays and adjust priorities as needed.
• •Coordinate changeovers and ensure the correct mandrels, tooling, compounds, reinforcement materials, and specifications are available before each run.

Process and quality

• •Verify that hose is built to the applicable work orders and specifications at each stage of production.
• •Oversee mandrel preparation and use, tube extrusion, reinforcement, cover application, wrapping, curing, stripping, testing, and finishing, as applicable to the department.
• •Monitor process conditions and address defects, scrap, and rework with employees and Quality.
• •Ensure required inspections, tests, and production records are completed accurately.
• •Segregate nonconforming product and work with Quality on its disposition and corrective actions.

People and safety

• •Train employees on equipment operation, standard work, product requirements, and safe handling practices.
• •Assign work, provide coaching and performance feedback, and develop cross-training to maintain coverage.
• •Enforce PPE, machine guarding, lockout/tagout, and other company safety procedures.
• •Inspect work areas for hazards and maintain clean, organized production and material storage areas.

Equipment, materials, and reporting

• •Identify equipment problems, submit maintenance requests, and coordinate repairs to minimize downtime.
• •Monitor material use and availability; report shortages that could affect production.
• •Review and record production quantities, labor hours, scrap, rework, and downtime.
• •Work with Scheduling, Maintenance, Quality, the Mill Room, and Shipping to keep orders moving and meet delivery commitments.
• •Identify opportunities to improve throughput, reduce waste, and improve product consistency.
• •Perform other duties as assigned.

Collaboration & Reporting:

• •Work cross-functionally with Production, Quality, and Logistics to ensure material readiness for custom hose builds.
• •Generate and present reports on department performance, material flow, downtime, and labor utilization.
• •Participate in department planning, budgeting, and improvement initiatives.

Requirements

Physical & Work Environment Requirements:

• •Frequent walking, standing, and lifting (up to 50 lbs).
• •Exposure to noise, dust, heat, and chemicals in manufacturing and warehouse areas.
• •Use of PPE such as gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, and steel-toe boots is required.
