Occupational Therapist – Specialist Education Setting

Our client is seeking a passionate and dedicated Occupational Therapist to join their clinical team in Wakefield. This rewarding opportunity offers the chance to make a genuine difference to the lives of children and young people with complex needs within a highly supportive specialist education environment.
The school is an independent specialist day school providing high-quality education for boys and girls with a wide range of complex learning needs, social and emotional difficulties, and challenging behaviours . Working as part of a multidisciplinary clinical team, you will play a key role in creating therapeutic learning environments that enable pupils to achieve positive outcomes and reach their full potential.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide high-quality occupational therapy assessments and interventions for children and young people with complex needs.
Deliver individualised, outcome-focused therapeutic programmes based on clinical assessment and formulation.
Support educational and residential colleagues in creating therapeutic learning and living environments.
Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to ensure therapeutic support is embedded throughout the school.
Provide consultation, advice, workshops, training, and guidance to education and care staff.
Support pupils with developmental trauma, neurodevelopmental conditions, and special educational needs.
Contribute to the ongoing development of therapeutic services and clinical practice within the school.
Help maximise pupil engagement, independence, wellbeing, and participation in education.
Requirements:
Qualified Occupational Therapist registered with the HCPC.
Experience delivering therapeutic interventions for children and young people with complex needs.
Experience supporting teams around a child or young person to create clinically informed learning and living environments.
Strong understanding of developmental trauma, neurodevelopmental conditions, SEN, and SEMH needs.
Confident, engaging, and effective communicator, trainer, and role model.
Highly organised with excellent planning and prioritisation skills.
