Cabrini Palliative Care Medicine

The Advanced Trainee in Palliative Care will work under the direction of the Director of Palliative Medicine and will gain exposure to, and experience in, the delivery of high-quality inpatient palliative care at Cabrini Malvern.

This role provides opportunities to develop advanced clinical skills in symptom management, whole-person care, advanced communication, psychosocial assessment, ethical decision-making in end-of-life care, and interdisciplinary teamwork. The trainee will also develop advanced knowledge and skills in pharmacology and prescribing.

The Advanced Trainee will be expected to contribute to the ongoing education, research and quality assurance programme as directed by the consultants in palliative medicine, contribute to a vibrant research program, participate in education within the framework of the Mission, Values, and Vision, and the Behaviours that Matter to Cabrini.

This is an onsite role covering 43 hours per week Monday to Friday.

How you will make an impact

• •Admission of all new patients to the palliative care ward.
• •Day to day clinical management of palliative care inpatients.
• •Management of prescribing, discharge planning, and key administrative activities pertaining to patient care.
• •Communication with patients, their families and relevant health care staff.
• •Participating and contributing to quality processes and protocols.
• •Actively and regularly participating in peer review patient related activities.
• •Adherence to the Cabrini codes of professional conduct, code of ethics, standards of
• •practice and competencies, Mission, Values and Vision, and the Behaviours that Matter.

What we're looking for:

• •Applications are welcomed from Advanced Trainees in Palliative Medicine and Advanced Trainees in other RACP specialties.
• •Experience at Registrar or Senior Basic Physician Trainee level in medicine, oncology, general practice, or related specialities is desirable.
• •Have unconditional registration with AHPRA as a Medical Practitioner.
• •Be registered as an Advanced Trainee with the Royal Australasian College of Physicians or Chapter of Palliative Medicine.
• •Have a valid Victorian Working with Children Check (WWCC)
