At Southern Arizona Veterinary Specialty and Emergency (SAVSEC), patient care always comes first. We are currently seeking Patient Care Assistants who are eager to grow their skills, learn from experienced veterinary professionals, and play a hands-on role in caring for animals in a specialty and emergency setting. This position is ideal for enthusiastic, compassionate individuals who are curious, motivated, and excited to learn while making a real difference in patients’ lives. About the Role As a Patient Care Assistant, you’ll be an essential part of our medical team, supporting doctors and veterinary technicians while gaining valuable clinical experience. We believe education happens every day—through mentorship, teamwork, and hands-on patient care. Our primary goals are to ensure the comfort, medical care, and well-being of our patients while actively developing your skills in a supportive learning environment. Reports to the Veterinary Technician Manager and Assistant Veterinary Technician Manager .

• •Available Shifts: Nights (6:00p – 6:00a) and Mids (11:00a – 11:00p).
• •Commitment: Full-time (36+ hours/week) Must be available 1 weekend day.
• •Compensation: Pay is dynamic and based on your clinical skill level and certification.

What You’ll Learn & Do

• •Provide daily care and comfort to hospitalized patients, prioritizing both physical and emotional well-being
• •Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians with treatments, diagnostics, and procedures
• •Learn and assist with safe handling and restraint of animals of all sizes and temperaments
• •Perform basic laboratory tasks and operate in-house lab equipment as training progresses
• •Support client education by promoting a compassionate, informed experience
• •Help maintain a clean, organized hospital environment

Requirements

What We’re Looking For Education (Required):

High school diploma or equivalent

Experience (Preferred):

• •One (1) year of veterinary hospital experience
• •Veterinary Assistant Certificate
