Description

Help Toyota dealerships get more out of SmartPath.

At Better Car People, we believe the right people, processes, and technology can make a real difference in the customer experience and dealership performance.

We’re looking for a Performance Coach – TMNA SmartPath to work directly with Toyota dealerships across the Los Angeles Region. This role is hands-on, relationship-driven, and focused on helping dealership teams get the most out of Toyota SmartPath.

You’ll spend time in dealerships coaching teams, identifying opportunities, reviewing performance, and helping turn SmartPath tools and processes into everyday habits that drive results.

If you enjoy working with people, solving problems, digging into performance data, and helping teams improve, this could be a great fit.

What You'll Do

As a Performance Coach, you’ll partner with Toyota dealership teams and TMNA field staff to strengthen SmartPath adoption, improve performance, and support ongoing dealership success.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Travel to Toyota dealerships across the Los Angeles Region to provide hands-on coaching, training, and support.
  • Build strong relationships with dealership leadership, sales teams, BDC/Internet teams, and other key stakeholders.
  • Assess how dealerships are currently using SmartPath and identify opportunities to improve adoption, consistency, and performance.
  • Review dealership performance and SmartPath metrics to identify trends, gaps, and opportunities.
  • Create and implement customized action plans based on each dealership’s needs and goals.
  • Coach dealership teams on SmartPath best practices, processes, and tools.
  • Provide refresher training and ongoing support to help teams build confidence and consistency.
  • Support new dealership launches and SmartPath rollouts as needed.
  • Support SmartPath F&I initiatives, including training and reinforcement during launches.
  • Follow up with dealership teams to track progress, measure results, and adjust coaching strategies.
  • Partner with TMNA field staff and other stakeholders to communicate updates, address challenges, and support dealership success.
  • Help troubleshoot issues and coordinate with the appropriate teams when additional technical or program support is needed.
  • Stay up to date on Toyota SmartPath features, enhancements, best practices, and program updates.
  • Share dealership insights and feedback to help improve processes, training, and overall program effectiveness.
  • Contribute to team initiatives and support the onboarding and development of other Performance Coaches as needed.

What You Bring

  • Experience working in a Toyota dealership environment, preferably in sales, BDC, digital retail, Internet sales, or dealership performance.
  • Strong understanding of dealership sales processes and the customer journey.
  • Experience coaching, training, or developing dealership teams.
  • A natural ability to build relationships and earn credibility with dealership leadership and frontline teams.
  • Experience using performance data and metrics to identify opportunities and measure results.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, both in person and virtually.
  • A hands-on coaching style with the ability to adapt your approach to different dealerships and teams.
  • Strong organization and follow-through, especially when managing multiple dealerships and action plans.
  • Comfortable working independently while partnering closely with TMNA field teams and the Better Car People team.
  • Willingness and ability to travel extensively throughout the assigned territory, generally Tuesday through Friday, with approximately 16–17 travel days per month.
  • A valid driver's license and ability to travel by car and air as needed.
  • Based in or within reasonable driving distance of the Los Angeles Region.

What Success Looks Like

Success in this role means Toyota dealerships are not just using SmartPath, but using it effectively and consistently.

You’ll help dealership teams understand the "why," build better habits, improve their processes, and create a stronger digital retail experience for their customers.

Why Better Car People?

At Better Car People, we’re focused on helping automotive businesses bridge the gap between their people, processes, technology, and customers. We work alongside dealership teams to make technology more practical, processes more effective, and customer engagement more meaningful.

If you’re someone who enjoys being in the field, working directly with dealership teams, and seeing the impact of your coaching firsthand, we’d love to hear from you.
