Under the direct supervision of a pharmacist, you will function as a trainee and gain knowledge in packaging, preparing and distributing medications, inventory control, customer service and maintaining pharmacy records. After 12 months, you will have successfully completed and received a diploma in Pharmacy Technology from the Cleveland Clinic School of Pharmacy Technology Program.

A caregiver in this position works Monday through Friday from 7:00am to 3:30pm on a 16-week program. No weekends or holidays required. This role pays $17/hour.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

Prepare medications (selection, labeling, repackaging, non-sterile compounding and sterile compounding).

Deliver medications to appropriate storage locations.

Maintain accurate and appropriate inventories of medications and supplies.

Maintain a safe and clean work area by complying with procedures, rules and regulations.

Document regulatory requirements such as temperature logs, scheduled activities, and training in an accurate and timely manner.

Attend and actively participate in team huddles and meetings.

Use information systems, technology and automation to complete assigned tasks.

Maintain good standing in the Cleveland Clinic School of Pharmacy Technology Program per the student handbook.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• •High School Diploma or GED
• •Successful completion of the Cleveland Clinic School of Pharmacy Technology program within 12 months of hire
• •Upon hire, registration as a Pharmacy Technician Trainee with the Ohio Board of Pharmacy. Registration as a Certified Pharmacy Technician with the Ohio Board of Pharmacy is required within 12 months
• •Must obtain Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certification through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) within 12 months

Physical Requirements:

Typical physical demands include ability to perform the job while standing, walking, reaching, stretching and sitting for prolonged periods; manual dexterity sufficient to perform computer, dispensing, and compounding.

Personal Protective Equipment:

Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
