3645 Phlebotomy Schedule: Day Shift. 40 hours weekly. 8:00am – 5:00pm

About the Position

Medical professionals who work within a clinical laboratory, collecting blood and samples from patients and adequately identifying, labeling and maintaining their preanalytical integrity prior to laboratory testing.

Overview of Responsibilities

Maintains skillset as referenced in JD-LAB-2.

Directly responsible for addressing personnel issues to ensure efficient laboratory workflow

Serves as a resource to any staff member for personal inquiries and escalates issues appropriately

Resolves personnel problems and investigates personnel complaints

Approves time off, including PTO and FMLA, and scheduling requests, including writing of schedules

Works with manager to fulfill on-call responsibilities

Maintains competency in Kronos (payroll), including tracking attendance and schedule input

Participates in new employee interview and selection process

Works in staffing to maintain competency and ensure coverage

Communicates regularly with all laboratory staff through written and verbal means

Prepares training material for new hires and students and coordinates training

Works with lab leadership team to develop competencies for Phlebotomy

Maintains personnel training and files

Responsible for timely, tactful reporting of personnel and policy concerns to the appropriate manager.

Assists manager in training and competency assessment of technical staff.

Looks for opportunities to recognize staff and celebrate successes.

Notifies management of employees for potential corrective action.

Submits employee peer evaluations to manager.

Responsible for the coordination of laboratory services and workflow, including staff and supplies to assure consistent and appropriate patient care.

Education & E xperience

Education Required: High School Diploma or equivalent

Education Preferred: None

Experience Required: Two (2) years’ experience as a certified phlebotomist

Experience Preferred: None

Licensure & Certification

Phlebotomy Certification Required
