The Tucson Police Department is looking for a creative visual storyteller to help bring the department’s work, people, and stories to life through compelling visual content. The Photo and Video Production Specialist develops story ideas and creates high-quality video, photography, and visual communications that support recruiting, community engagement, public education, transparency, and the department’s overall brand.

This position will create video content for a variety of audiences and purposes, including employee recruiting, community engagement, public education, department initiatives, storytelling, and internal communication and training. The specialist may also develop social media content and visual materials, including flyers and other graphics, to support department communications and outreach. Beyond video production, this position serves as a department photographer capturing the people and moments that document and commemorate department activities, events, employee achievements, community interactions, and significant moments.

The ideal candidate combines strong technical and creative skills with an ability to understand how powerful visuals can inform, connect, and build trust, and who can translate complex or important topics into engaging content for both internal and external audiences.

The recruitment process will include an application/resume review, a practical assessment to demonstrate your video building skills and content creation (tentatively scheduled for the end of October 2026/beginning of November 2026), and a screening panel interview (tentatively scheduled for the week of November 16, 2026). A hiring interview may also be conducted. You will be advised via email of your status in the process after each stage.

The Photo and Video Production Specialist at the City of Tucson’s Police Department writes and creates story ideas for education, recruiting, and transparency purposes for outward facing audiences through video production. Additionally, this position produces training videos for internal audiences and takes photographs of department activities, events, and community engagement.

Work is performed under the supervision of a police sergeant. This position does not supervise.

Duties and Responsibilities

• •Creates and distributes recruiting, training, educational, and transparency videos.
• •Captures department activities, events, and community engagement through photographs.
• •Creates and distributes social media content, marketing packages and communications materials.
• •Builds and executes social media strategy through audience research.
• •Develops plans or materials to communicate organizational activities that are beneficial to public safety.
• •Performs all other duties and tasks as assigned.

Working Conditions

Majority of work completed in office. Occasional early morning, evening, or weekend event attendance.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education

Bachelor's degree

Experience

Three (3) years of relevant experience

Equivalency

Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.

License/Certifications

Preferred Qualifications

• Must possess a valid and unrestricted Arizona Class D driver license
• Federal Aviation Authority (FAA) Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate
• Two years of experience with video and photo editing software (Illustrator, After Effects, Photoshop, Adobe Premiere, etc.)
• Two years of experience in marketing, communications, or public information
• Two years of professional experience with social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, X, YouTube, LinkedIn, etc.)
