Physical Security Specialist

Summary

The Office of Support Operations, Physical Security and Emergency Management is seeking a Security Specialist (Physical Security Specialist). As a Physical Security Specialist, you will serve the Commission by protecting personnel, facilities, property, classified information, and sensitive unclassified information under normal and abnormal (i.e., emergency) conditions. This includes physical security at Headquarters and our ten Regional Offices.

Duties

In this role as a Physical Security Specialist, you will be responsible for: Assisting in the development and implementation of a nationwide Occupant Emergency Program (OEP). Performing inspections and testing of existing security systems. Conducting and/or participating in the delivery of surveys and analyses to identify vulnerabilities of facilities or sites and potential threats against them. Ensuring the security policies and procedures are implemented within the agency and in full compliance with applicable federal laws and regulations (i.e. OSHA). Conducting security investigations and performing the full range of investigative functions on simple and routine cases pertaining to Work Place Violence, theft, security violations, employee/contractor misconduct; interviews victims/witnesses, obtains detail statements and prepares Reports of Investigations (ROI).

Qualifications

Qualifying experience may be obtained in the private or public sector. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. All qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement. MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENT: SK-12: Applicant must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS/SK-11 level. Specialized experience includes: 1) assisting in the development and implementation of a nationwide security program; AND 2) monitoring compliance with security requirements within an organization based on the Interagency Security Committee's (ISC) guidance; AND 3) conducting investigations, inspections, and reporting on physical security weaknesses or violations and implementing corrective actions to improve facility security; AND 4) working with federal and law enforcement agencies to provide information on security threats and responses.
