Position Purpose:

Under general supervision, but according to established procedures, performs a variety of physical tests such as Electrocardiograph, Graded Exercise Stress Test and Holter Monitors/ Event Monitors in order to assist physicians in the determination and diagnosis of disease or dysfunction.

What the Physiology Tech Will Do:

Responsible for the performance of physiology tests; conducts progressively more complex tests as departmental experience accumulates .

Performs duties associated with tests, i.e. attaches electrodes, prepares graphs, performs calculations, monitors heart rate, etc.

Greets and prepares patients for tests . Interacts with patients in a courteous manner; explains treatment purpose and equipment function and otherwise alleviates patient's anxiety.

Reviews test results on a preliminary basis to determine need for immediate interpretation by physicians; delivers results to referring physician when necessary.

Performs a variety of related duties such as changing linens, ordering supplies, filing and so on.

Minimum Qualifications:

Level of knowledge equivalent to that ordinarily acquired through completion of high school .

College level training in physiology, anatomy, or biology .
