Principal Software Engineer Team Lead - Partner Systems & Integrations

As the Principal Engineer & Team Lead for Partner Systems & Integrations within the Fleet Software Platform group in Singapore, you will lead the engineering team responsible for bridging Motional’s autonomous vehicle fleet with global commercial partner networks.

Moving beyond internal tool management, you will own the architectural strategy, B2B integration surfaces, and operational reliability of our partner-facing ecosystem. You will lead the effort to streamline integration interfaces and decouple internal tools from core fleet services—and lead an elite team of backend and full-stack software engineers to support 100x commercial scale in driverless operations.

What you'll be doing:

People Leadership & Team Growth : Directly manage, mentor, and grow a team of senior and staff software engineers. Build a high-performance, inclusive engineering culture, manage performance, drive quarterly OKRs, and recruit top engineering talent across Singapore and global time zones.

Partner Integration & Ecosystem Ownership : Serve as the primary technical leader and owner for all commercial partner integrations, specifically leading the design, execution, and scaling of core ride-hailing and fleet partner integration surfaces, dispatch messaging, dynamic operational design domain (ODD) synchronization, and trip matching.

API-First Architecture : All applications sit atop versioned Fleet Orchestration and Vehicle Control APIs. Enforce clear separation of concerns by ensuring partner-specific business logic remains encapsulated within integration layers without bleeding into core internal platform services.

Remote Customer Assistance (RCA) & Telemetry : Architect and scale real-time partner support capabilities, including multi-camera video streaming, real-time two-way audio communication between riders and support agents, and remote vehicle command APIs.

Operational Excellence & Partner SLAs : Elevate system reliability to maintain high availability across all external partner endpoints. Implement enterprise-grade observability, automated incident management systems, zero-downtime deployment pipelines, and robust data security and access control standards.

Cross-Functional & Partner Leadership: Act as the technical primary point of contact collaborating directly with external partner engineering teams, Product Management, Autonomy, Operations, and internal Developer Platform groups

What we're looking for:

Experience : Bachelor's or Master's in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, with 12+ years of professional software engineering experience, including 3+ years of direct people management / engineering leadership experience.

Backend Mastery : Expert-level proficiency in Golang and Python for high-throughput microservices, event-driven architectures (EDA), WebSockets/WebRTC, and gRPC/REST API design.

B2B & Partner API Systems : Proven track record of architecting, launching, and operating mission-critical B2B partner integrations or public-facing API platforms with strict 99.99% SLA requirements.

Cloud & Security Architecture : Strong experience with AWS cloud-native services (EKS/Kubernetes, ECS, Lambda, API Gateways, DynamoDB/Redis), Infrastructure-as-Code, and security frameworks for handling restricted PII data.

Leadership & Execution : Demonstrated success in managing software delivery cycles, driving technical roadmaps, coaching staff-level engineers, and resolving complex, cross-functional organizational dependencies.

Bonus points (not required):

Prior experience in the Autonomous Vehicle (AV), Ride-Hailing/Mobility (e.g., Uber, Lyft, Grab), or IoT Fleet Management sectors.

Hands-on experience with real-time video/audio streaming infrastructure (WebRTC media servers, Ant-Media).

Experience operating cross-regional engineering escalation rotations and live operations support across time zones (US/Singapore).
