Private Patient Account Manager
Location: Clifton Park TC, York
Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Full-time
Summary:
Clifton Park Hospital opened in 2006 and is located just outside York. The modern purpose built hospital has been rated ‘Good’ by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and has first-class medical facilities including 24 beds, two theatres, a day case unit, a large outpatient department with X-ray facilities and on-site physiotherapy, including a small gym area. In 2018, the hospital opened a new outpatient department with 11 consulting rooms, two treatment rooms and x-ray facilities.
The role:
The Private Patient Manager will lead and oversee a team of Private Patient Coordinators, driving growth in insured and self-pay activity while ensuring an exceptional, seamless private patient journey from initial enquiry through to discharge, delivering a high-quality experience at every stage of the patient pathway.
This is a strategic role, working closely with the Head of Operations and the Business Relations Manager to drive growth in Self-Pay and Private Medical Insurance (PMI) admissions and deliver against agreed activity and revenue targets.
Responsibilities include:
- Develop and deliver the hospital's private patient growth strategy, driving increases in Self-Pay and Private Medical Insurance (PMI) admissions in line with agreed activity and revenue targets.
- Build and maintain strong strategic relationships with consultants, insurers and key stakeholders to maximise referral opportunities and support business growth.
- Analyse market trends, referral patterns, conversion performance and competitor activity to identify opportunities for service development and expansion.
- Lead and develop the Private Patient Coordinators, creating a high-performing, patient-focused team aligned to the hospital's strategic objectives.
- Work in partnership with the Business Relations Manager and central marketing teams to develop and implement initiatives that increase brand awareness, patient acquisition and market share.
- Monitor and report on key performance indicators including enquiry volumes, conversion rates, lost opportunities, admissions growth and patient experience metrics, implementing improvement plans where required.
- Develop and oversee a programme of business development, educational and patient engagement events, ensuring measurable return on investment and alignment with growth objectives.
- Drive continuous improvement of the private patient journey, ensuring exceptional patient experience, efficient processes and outstanding customer service.
- Provide strategic insight and recommendations to the Head of Operations on private patient performance, growth opportunities, capacity requirements and future service developments.
- Act as the hospital lead for private patient services, ensuring delivery of the organisation's private patient strategy and contributing to wider hospital business planning and development initiatives.
What you will bring:
- Proven experience in private healthcare, healthcare operations, business development, private patient services, or a commercial healthcare environment.
- Demonstrable experience of developing and delivering growth strategies that increase Self-Pay and Private Medical Insurance (PMI) activity.
Experience of leading, motivating and developing high-performing teams.
Strong track record of building effective relationships with consultants, referrers, insurers and other key stakeholders to drive business growth.
- Experience of analysing performance data, conversion rates, market trends and business metrics to inform strategic decision-making.
- Proven ability to identify and implement opportunities for service development, market growth and revenue generation.
- Previous line management experience, including performance management, coaching and team development.
