On our G80 General Internal Medicine unit, you will be caring for adult patients with complex multi-system failure issues, such as congestive heart failure and sepsis. You will also be taking care of patients with nutritional deficiencies, which is unique to our G80 unit. Many of our patients also require ongoing cardiac monitoring, so you will be trained in Cardiac Dysrhythmia and EKG interpretation. Leadership on this unit fosters a strong sense of teamwork, and caregivers gain skills applicable to many specialties across the organization. This unit is one of only two Ohio Cleveland Clinic units to receive the Prism Award for nutritional insufficiency program excellence.

As an RN on our team, you will deliver exceptional care throughout the patient care journey. In this role, you will interact directly with patients and their families, offering the opportunity to enhance their experience and provide healthcare education as needed.

How You’ll Benefit

Our Center for Workplace Violence Prevention and Caregiver Well-Being sets caregiver safety as a priority, identifying, reporting and responding to incidents and providing safety resources.

A caregiver in this position works PRN (as needed) variable shifts. You must work 48 hours within a six-week period.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

Provide direct nursing care.

Implement and monitor patient care plans.

Monitor, record and communicate patients’ conditions.

Serve as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.

Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.

Assess and coordinate patients’ discharge needs.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing (ADN or BSN program)

Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)

External candidates: two years of recent related nursing experience

Internal candidates with less than two years of experience, but are post-orientation/90-day probationary period, may be considered with CNO level review and approval

Licensed military RN experience will be considered

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

Bachelor of science in nursing (BSN)

Physical Requirements:

• •Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patient, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.
• •Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.
• •Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
• •Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours.
• •Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.
• •Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
• •Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.

Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
