Property Accountant

Job Summary

The Property Accountant is responsible for satisfying all aspects of accounting within a specific portfolio of properties. This position reports to the Property Controller and works directly with Regional and Property Management to analyze property results and performance.

Essential Job Functions

• •Models and instills company mission and values
• •Monthly closing of financial ledgers
• •Completes timely bank reconciliations
• •Reviews and analyzes ledger accounts
• •Reviews budgets and plans forecasting
• •Submits quarterly reporting to State Agencies
• •Completes financial reporting package
• •Addresses and resolves audit requests
• •Responds to inquiries from regional and property managers
• •Other duties as assigned

Requirements

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• •Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
• •Minimum of 5 years of property accounting experience
• •Working knowledge of Yardi or other property accounting software
• •Understanding of state agency reporting
• •Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
• •Understanding of tenant rent activities, including collections
• •Strong financial acumen and critical thinking skills
• •Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• •Ability to interpret data and recommend performance-enhancing actions
• •Knowledge of capital expenditures and qualifications for reserve accounts
• •Excellent interpersonal skills
• •Strong written and verbal communication skills
• •Ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced, action-oriented environment
• •Ability to establish relationships across the organization and at various hierarchical levels
