Duties

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING DAY TO DAY As a Public Health Advisor, you will use your knowledge and experience to optimize business results and customer experience by: Providing program leadership and consultation for public health initiatives involving governmental, community, and/or international partners to advance program goals and priorities. Directing the collection and use of program information to assess performance, identify emerging needs, and guide decisions regarding strategies, services, and resources. Planning and administering public health activities involving outreach, education, surveillance, quality assurance, and program implementation to improve health outcomes.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR Basic Qualifications: You must possess one of the items listed below. Undergraduate and Graduate Education: Major study -- public health or other field of study with course work directly related to the work of the position to be filled. -OR- Specialized Experience: Experience that provided: Knowledge of organizational, operational, and programmatic concepts and practices applied by public, private, or nonprofit agencies and organizations engaged in public health or other health-related activities. Knowledge of the methods, processes, and techniques used to develop and deliver public health or health-related programs in State and local settings. Knowledge of a specialized public health program. Knowledge of, and skill in, the application of administrative or analytical methods and techniques necessary for working within the framework of a public health or related organization and carrying out specific program functions. Skill in oral and written communications, gathering and conveying information, making oral presentations, and preparing reports, correspondence, and other written materials. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Minimum Qualifications: You must have one year specialized experience to perform successfully the duties of the position. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service performing ALL of the following: Coordinating public health programs and/or initiatives involving multiple stakeholders to address program needs, strengthen partnerships, and support delivery of health-related services. Analyzing public health and/or program data to identify trends, assess program outcomes, and develop recommendations for intervention, prevention, or control strategies. Developing and/or implementing health communication or educational strategies that promote appropriate health practices, reduce health risks, and address identified public health needs. -OR- Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., if related -OR- Combination of Education and Experience: Must have a combination of experience as described in the specialized experience above and education as described above. Education
