QA Analyst, Lab Technician I

ROLE PURPOSE:

The Quality Lab Tech I is responsible for certain physical, chemical, and identification testing and reporting performed on pharmaceutical, food, industrial, and oilfield product samples received in the QC Lab. Timely and precise results reporting, and strong communication skills are required to be successful in this position.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

To identify and implement process improvements which result in higher throughput, improved efficiencies, recognizable cost savings and more consistent product quality. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the fundamental functions and responsibilities of the job as defined below:

Facilitate problem solving and develop action plans to address performance issues and achieve key performance indicator goals

Perform all duties utilizing safe lab practices regarding use of PPE, solution make-up, storage and disposal of chemicals and spill cleanup

Perform routine maintenance and calibration of laboratory testing equipment along with all necessary calibration records

Complete all assigned testing for the day as distributed by the supervisor and team and maintain accurate records in logbooks and electronic record management system

On a rotating basis perform raw material testing in a timely manner for release of material to production

Complete special testing requests as assigned by the area supervisor which includes projects related to process improvement, customer complaints, and troubleshooting

Facilitate a team environment with strong communication with peers and supervisor to improve efficiency and problem solve

Perform administrative duties such as data reviews, quality inspections, inventory supplies, and document updates

Maintain a clean workspace and laboratory including wiping counters, cleaning glassware, and keeping lab prepped for customer audits

Participate in routine audits by answering questions from auditors and being available to support Quality Supervisors on locating documents and records

Demonstrate a high standard for data integrity and provide timely and accurate results for quick product turn around

SKILLS, TRAINING and EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry or related field, and/or an Associate’s degree and a minimum of four college level courses in science (with a grade of “C” or better) with extensive lab experience

Two (2) years or more of laboratory work experience

Ability to effectively communicate (written, verbal, presentation skills) at multiple levels

Proven experience in creating a culture of accountability and creating a high-performance culture

Demonstrated team building, leadership, employee development and conflict resolution skills

Continuous improvement experience

Ability to plan, prioritize, and execute effectively

Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously under various deadlines

Strong organizational skills and self-motivation

Experience with LIMS systems and data entry

Experience with ICP-OES, GC, GCMS, Viscometers, Spectroscopy and/or LECO preferred

Six Sigma or Lean manufacturing experience is preferred

Working knowledge of SAP is preferred

Demonstrated leadership in driving a high personal safety culture

Knowledge of ISO systems and certifications
